A hostile world of violence and magic where murder is just another part of daily life, this is the day to day reality for most of the residents living within the isolated city–Kandon. Cut off from the outside world, the strong prey on the weak in this sludge-fueled dystopian society. Everyone within the city has the ability to produce magic, but only few know how to use it well and much fewer know how to wield it against the human-devouring ghouls who prowl the streets and hunt with no rhyme or reason. Grand Ball follows the story of the young woman Emma who is slowly wasting her life away at a job she hates to pay for a small apartment she can barely afford. However, Emma stays hopeful and dreams of one day working her way up in society so that she can live more peacefully. Her life suddenly takes a sharp turn when she meets a young man who can’t recollect anything about his past. All he remembers is one concept that has been burned into his memory. He must learn how to cry. It is this meeting between two lost souls that lead them down a road of eerie mysteries, death and carnage.
