Old completed outdated version originally created for the Goblins and Grandmas Community Contest 2024. Leaving for historical purposes. Will one day be rewritten, but not likely before 2027 !!! Edna long ago went into retirement. She and her cat Warfrost have lived in hiding. When the old house cat gets thrown into a bag and carried away by a goblin, Edna vows to get him back, even if it means dusting off her adventuring gear and being found by The Betrayers. Half-Dwarf Hildebrin is angry. A scrawny goblin frightened her sister Magdelina into a heart attack. What a sad fate for a once noble guard of Koh'Lodur, long ago banished to human realms. Goblins will die. She will smash the whole grotto beneath her hammer until her sister is avenged. Curgelek thought the orange cat would make a good pet. He was proud of himself. All the other goblins wanted shiny things, but a cat could be enjoyed by his whole family. It's just a cat, lady!!! The first few chapters feature different viewpoints, then it's almost entirely from Edna's point of view or omniscient for the remainder. I quickly realized I'd put far too much detail into the first few chapters. It was too much for a simple writing prompt project, so what ended up happening is that a "full size novel's beginning" quickly became just a stunted novella at 42,000 words. THE STORY IS COMPLETE. This was written for the Goblins and Grandma's Community Magazine Contest June 2024. This is my first story on RR, and no previous reading/lore is required.
