Synopsis
Akira Yoshimoto watches on as raindrops drip down onto the city of Kyoto, as gray monstrosities mask the sky. His life is but a long period of stagnant emptiness and sorrow, occasionally broken by a short stage of euphoria and hope. Ever since one day six years ago, he was a different person. He could still live, laugh, and love, but everything was tainted by sadness, anger, and hate, by a will to avenge his mother, his father, his sister, by a cacoethes to kill whoever brought this life upon him. His part of Kyoto is infamously nicknamed Neon District. Here, he knows no peace, no break from the quarrels between syndicates or the drunken brawls. Here, it is only a matter of time before a broken man falls victim to circumstance. There aren't many laws here - at least not many that are easily enforced - but every civilian, beggar, thug, and tycoon knows one unspoken rule: "When the knives come out, go back to your home." Some things happen at midnight that people don't want to see.
