Synopsis
"A fire burns across our land, it ravages villages and tears families apart. A fire burns across our land boy, just look!" A man grabs the face of his son and forces his crying visage to stare at the plumes of smoke which scar the night sky and illuminate it with the dim glow of violence.
He tells his son of how the sea people came, how they took an axe to the realms of the wood folk and split apart the years of relative prosperity they had prospered under.
"We can only quell the flames if we rally boy if we continue to scramble backwards, fighting the fires behind us and picking at old wounds instead of uniting then that is how we will die, desperate and afraid." His son is crying, he can hear the joyous hooting of the sea people in the distance, coming closer.
"Call the mercenaries boy, tell the woodland kings of what has happened here. Tell them how we suffer and pray to the gods that they answer our call, do you hear me, boy?!" He grabs the lightly furred face of his son and forces the boy to look him in the eyes.
"Yes, father."
"Good, now go. Spread the message to all the corners of the woods." His fathers expression softens and he pushes his son on his way, away from him and further onto the road out of their burning village.
The boy turns around but once as he runs away, he watches as his father charges defiantly into a knot of armoured sea folk, screaming his rage at them and with his knife brandished high above his head.
The boy turns and runs before he sees the outcome, he must tell the kingdom, he must tell them to rally, or divided they will fall.

Author Note:
Hey guys, this story focuses mostly on a single mercenary company and them fighting the onslaught of the sea people, the little scene above just serves to set the stage for the actual characters.
This story was somewhat inspired by the "Redwall" book series and if you haven't read those than what I mean by that is basically that instead of the world being inhabited by humans it is instead populated by Ampromorphic woodland creatures such as badgers, mice and hares to name a few.
The story involves elements of High Fantasy and later on kingdom building. One chapter will be posted each and every day.
