T'aakshi, the only son of the Chief, is one of the Su'roi tribe's most promising hunters. Skilled with the spear and a wielder of the rare magic known as Self, he is about as content as it is possible to be living in the harsh, frozen wastelands of Tagaya. However, his world is shattered when a creature never seen before emerges from the snow and devastates his hunting party.
