T'aakshi, the only son of the Chief, is one of the Su'roi tribe's most promising hunters. Skilled with the spear and a wielder of the rare magic known as Self, he is about as content as it is possible to be living in the harsh, frozen wastelands of Tagaya. However, his world is shattered when a creature never seen before emerges from the snow and devastates his hunting party. T'aakshi is tasked with leading the hunt to destroy the beast, but little does he know, the creature's attack was no accident—it was the harbinger of a deadly force bent on annihilating the Su’roi. As the quest to hunt the beast falters, T'aakshi must overcome his own fears and the enemies arrayed before him—or watch as the blood of his tribe stains the snow.
