He is twenty summers young and still clings to a side of hope that the other lowborn around him have had to throw away to survive. The hope that there is more to life than servitude under someone with a title in their name. Suddenly, his life changes when a servant of the goddess, referred to by most as simply 'The Lady', recognizes him as someone with the potential for greatness. A fey magic inside of Alistair marks his potential to become a paladin, a magical warrior of Good. But first, he must prove himself worthy of this gift. He must leave his home, his family, and his peasant life behind to prove himself an ardent follower of the Chivalric Code and the Lady's teachings. Now, Alistair must venture out into a big and unknown world to him. Beset on all sides by magical creatures, vicious monsters, bigoted nobles, and the stirring Undead horde, will he survive long enough to complete his quest and prove himself worthy enough to sip from the grail? Or will he, like countless others before him, die a mere supplicant on the quest to find Avalon? And if he can manage to prove himself worthy of the Lady's gift, what can one peasant-turned-paladin do against the forces of Evil?
