Danica swung her rapier around, smashing him in the face with the guard. Her efforts were rewarded with the sickening sound of cartilage and bone being snapped apart. He yelled in pain and staggered back, blood already gushing from his broken nose. Without wasting a precious moment, she launched into the offensive, forcing him to fall back with every swing. He tried to recover, dodging and attempting to parry her moves, but she would not let up on the assault. He’d wanted a fight to the death and she was going to give it to him. The daughter of a dark elf and a human, Danica lived as an outcast in a city that bore her no love. Her life was a bleak existence with ho hope for a better future, until the day that Norport's commander of the guard, Landon Marshall, recognized the potential within her. Over the next several years she finds herself battling a stagnating religion, foul magics, cannibal killers, and most difficult of all, her own inner turmoil. Will her sword arm and determination be enough to secure victory or will she succumb to the perils of a city teetering on the edge of madness? What to expect. This is a first draft. There are some issues scattered about, but nothing too major in my opinion. I write out the story in parts and go back in later to polish it up. I'm human and make mistakes. I'm also more than happy to fix those mistakes if you point them out to me. I do not have a scheduled release time. Book 1 should be finished by the end of December. Afterwards it will remain on RR while I deal with editing and then be Stubbed for KDP. I've already started the outline for book 2 which will be more action focused.
