And to make things worse, the technology is about as advanced as 11th Century Europe, with kingdoms more obsessed with waging war than feeding their own populations. So what if he has magic? Having powerful magic doesn't change the fact that there's shit in the streets, rampant diseases, and the greatest lack of hygiene anyone from the modern era has ever seen. But the worse off something is, the more there is to improve. I’ve never quite written anything with this much substance before. And if you wish to criticize, please feel free to. Most of my inspiration comes from what I wished other novels would have done.
