In the name of hope, we have forsaken our beliefs. We have forgotten our own laws and our faiths, and we have made our children go through hell so that they could gain the strength to save the Earth. And for a while, it worked! As some of them managed to ascend, they were taken in by the surviving countries and succeeded in pushing back the Horde. Those of them managed to ascend were taken in by the surviving countries and succeeded in pushing back the Horde, yet what is our victory worth when it was obtained through the pain of our children and the influence of a foreign god?The Hope Initiative is out of control, its now possesses more power than any of the surviving countries and uses it to protect its darkest secrets.Factions have forcefully recruited most of the remaining Ascendeds, and they are preparing to march on each other.The Horde, undeterred by the loss of millions of its soldiers, is slowly gathering another army at our doorstep. Meanwhile creatures of myths, predators of men, have started to spread disaster around the world.And who can say anything about the allegiance of the ascended humans when we are responsible for most of their suffering?I am terrified. Terrified that we might have traded a harsh war for absolute chaos. Terrified that in the end, we might be responsible for our own extinction.---------------------------------------------------Author's note: The story will in the beginning be about a few youth on their road to ascension.
