In the night, a strange tower stands — its occupants to be served a banquet.  Splinters of men and women from across time have awakened to wander its floors: a woman from China during World War II, a Frenchman of The Revolution, others of The First Crusade, The Paraguayan War; so, too, is Samantha Halley admitted inside, a young British woman from the 2020s.  Though she is first met with care and courtesy, she finds no assurance from her encounters within its walls, its winding passageways and inexplicable rooms.  Her determination to uncover the truth behind their admittance is soon struck restless as they each work desperately in abidance with the tower against efforts to leave, coaxing onwards across the foist of unknowns and writhings of hope. Every hand taken, each cry an echo — here will they come forth, and confront the terrors inside....
