A twist of fate indeed.  As the conflict escalates and refugees pour into Japan, Takashi's peaceful life takes an unexpected turn.  One day, amidst the chaos, he discovers a lost child from Taiwan who doesn't speak Japanese. Feeling a sense of responsibility, Takashi decides to help the child find their family.  Little does he know, this act of compassion will entangle him in the broader consequences of the war.
