Teague is a Through, a being who works magic by making offerings and receiving favors from God-like beings known as Patrons. It’s a tremendous power, but it comes at a great cost to Teague. He has schizophrenia, and no Patron will heal him of this ailment. In addition, being a Through limits Teague’s understanding of what it means to be human, and where the line between right and wrong exists.
