Arthur Hartley, a young man from a quiet village, returns in terror after witnessing his friend's death at the hands of the powerful Faeclavige. As he and his mother take refuge, they realize that Arthur's blind eye might hold the key to seeing the hidden threat. The village is soon attacked by mysterious Faes, who set everything ablaze, leaving Arthur and his mother with no choice but to flee. As Arthur escapes into the forest, he is forced to watch helplessly as his mother is struck down, leaving him alone and hunted.
