Synopsis

In the village of Ashford Heath, Robert Darnaval—a soldier, blacksmith, and reluctant father—sits upon his porch, his newborn son cradled in his arms. He is a man shaped by war, tempered in the heat of both battlefield and forge, yet as he looks upon the sleeping child, he is filled with a quiet dread. The weight of parenthood presses upon him more heavily than any sword or hammer ever has. He knows what the world is—a place of hardship, violence, and cruel lessons. To raise a boy into a man is not to shelter him from pain, but to prepare him to endure it. Years later, Robert’s home is one of discipline and structure, but also of conflict. His biological son, Michael is caught between who he is and who he is expected to be, between the call to rise and the comfort of staying low. But the world will not wait for him to make his choice. The weight he carries is growing heavier, and sooner or later, it will demand to be reckoned with. His adoptive brother, Leon, is his opposite—sharp, calculated, his world built on logic and invention. The boys, bound by fate but divided by nature, each look to Robert for guidance. But what makes a man? Strength, resilience, discipline—these Robert knows well, and he instills them with unrelenting force. He believes softness is a flaw, that happiness is a fleeting illusion. Yet as his sons grow, so does a gnawing doubt: Is he forging them into men, or simply beating the innocence out of them and has he gone too far? As shadows of the past threaten to rise again, Robert must ask himself: is he shaping his sons into weapons against fate, or is he forging them into something far worse? In a world where magic lingers in the unseen, where duty and destiny collide, Fate or Forged is a tale of parenthood, responsibility, and the price of power.
