Lance is a orphan boy who was adopted by a small farming community  in the Arinitic after his parents died in a landslide. He is a sharp witted, and resourceful young man who hopes to be accepted and find a place for himself in the world , his plans are abruptly ruined when the local priest discovers his affinity for magic.
