Chapter 1: World's Upheaval. Come Forth, Udalth III!

Chapter 1: World's Upheaval. Come Forth, Udalth III!

“They really like to take their time to kill me, these zeros and ones.” Surrounding the area where Jord Udalth lives, a bunch of zeros and ones were glowing with a green tinge in a jet black darkness while engulfing and destroying everything in the virtual world where Jord lives, the VRMMORPG New Core Life Online.

“Well, at least I can appreciate more the sun in this place where I met that Player.” Jord looked up to the sun high in the sky. It is a place he will never be able to be because he was a Core Behemoth.

Jord wasn’t allowed to have the freedom to fly in the sky like humans do, although he had almost the same height of a Human child when standing on his two feet, human would be the last word someone would use to describe him. He was a Familiar and a Monster, and he was content with his existence, since it was the reason he had encountered the Player.

Jord turned back his head with an elongated face to the house he spent his life creating using his Core’s powers. He thought whilst showing an expression full of regret and melancholy, it is a shame, I was almost perfecting it.

If nobody disturbed him, it wouldn’t take too long to his lifetime job be completed and maybe that Player would come back to him after hearing about a gigantic palace close to the lake where they have met. But with the arrival of the Game Developers together with their nasty codes, it was all in vain.

Maybe not, since he at least tried. I think the proverb was…

You can’t accomplish anything if you stay idle for your whole life. It is better to me try and fail than sink into depression after that Player disappeared.

However, no matter how he thought about beautiful words and proverbs, he couldn’t stop his tears and indignation feelings at the sight of his house being engulfed by the darkness.

Despite knowing he was a threat to the real world, Earth. Since he was a VR Bug, an NPC that gained sapience and became capable of accessing the Internet or even go to the real world. So he represented a danger to all the Earth if he caused havoc in the real world just like all his predecessors did after learning the truth about their existences.

BUT!

He already learned the truth many years ago when he met that Player and he never wished to even have a real body, he at most used the Internet to receive a University Degree and watch some cartoons. So why? Why are the Game Developers destroying everything? Jord from since he was born, he never bothered or hurt anybody. He just killed some nearby fellows NPCs to eat.

It is the cycle of life, there is nothing to find fault or guilt.

I just wanted to have a place to call home and bring friends to it, principally that Player!

It is really necessary to destroy everything?!

Turning back to the sunset, his tears fell on the hateable lake that almost killed him when he was younger and made him look to his current visage.

Jord was covered with bistre scales and had a shiny platinum horn at end of his elongated face, a long tail, large and deep golden eyes that with their pure glow and compassionate expression seemed to expose to everyone the personality of their owner. I really tend to become arrogant when describing my eyes, maybe because they were the part of my body the Player most liked.

On the middle of his chest, he had his greatest weakness and also the source of his earth power that made possible to him construct the palace, a brown diamond-shaped Core.

He wore a dark green set of a ragged hooded cape and gloves with holes that he accidentally made using his retractable claws. Apart from his house, these were his most important belongings given to him by his best and only friend, the Player.

Because he was a VR Bug he couldn’t see the Player’s name and never bothered to ask, since just the Player’s presence was enough to reduce his boredom and wish for another friend in this world where he can’t talk with his master or others NPCs.

The zeros and ones finally gathered the courage to reach more closely to Jord.

It was a fitting end, a AI killing another AI.

When the sun was engulfed and the darkness filled the world, a message appeared at Jord’s front.

I can save you, you only need to answer me this. Do you want to live?

Yes/No.

With the chance of saving himself, he did what any other Familiar would do if presented with a similar choice. He said, “no, thank you,” and pressed the 'No' option.

Being a VR Bug he knows that the message is not a prank from the developers because he can’t see their messages. So based on the books he read on the Internet, it was some kind of higher existence trying to save him to do something or go on an adventure, or make new friends with a real body in another world.

But Jord has already accepted his death, what is the meaning of trying to prolong his life?

Won’t you regret this? You will be able to build a kingdom and many of your dear houses! Press the 'Yes' button and the salvation will come for you.

Yes/No.

“No,” he pressed again the button.

Oh! Friends! You will have many friends and people to save. You are a kind and gentle Familiar, aren’t you? So press the right button to help all sorts of people. You wouldn’t let billions of people die, would you?

Yes/No

Jord perceived it was a tricky question and decided to just ignore the messages, cheater, it is unfair to put the scale of lives so high.

I wanted to use it as a trump card to make certain you wouldn’t let my future Master die, but extreme situations require extreme decisions.

The Player -the one you have been always waiting for- will be in the world where we will be going.

Jord narrowed his pure golden eyes and with his blood pumping more quickly through his metallic veins, he said. “I know you are probably deceiving me, but… go on.”

The world, Onocent, that we are going is currently at the border of the Multiverse, away from the control of the Sixth Creator. So it is going to undergo the process of Upheaval of the first system created by the long-dead First Creator.

There, my Master will be born and the Player too. I am certain of it because one of the Player’s reincarnations has already been there in the past.

So I want to you protect my, no, our Master from the Monsters created by the Upheaval. You don’t need to make him a King by using the first system, just his safety is enough. And I will point the way to the Player.

I assure you and it is not better to try and fail than sink into depression after that Player disappeared?

“Ha, so it is here where my words will bite me back.” Jord sighed and decided to tag along, “okay,” I am going to regret this so much, but my longing is stronger than my reason.

Are you going to make a contract with me?

Yes/No

“Yes,” as Jord pressed the button, from thin air appeared a Grimoire made of leather with different symbols of all the elements bound by mini black chains engraved on it.

*You just need to close your eyes and then you will be at the front of my future Master without feeling any discomfort.* The Grimoire with a masculine voice sent its thoughts to Jord without using messages at his front.

Being a book kind of surprised Jord, however, its telepathic abilities not so much.

After obeying it, Jord waited two seconds to open his eyes. And then at his vision, a dense and overgrown jungle materialized with plants and trees that seemed to come from the dinosaur era.

Looking to the sides, appeared a Human? No, he was like a raccoon that has grown to the size of a human and was able to stand on his two paws. He also wore a strange brown animal pelt at his waist, the technology of here is at the tribal age or he is in the worst poor state I have already seen in my life… maybe both.

*He is our Master, Vimesh Quye.* The Grimoire said at the hands of the oversized raccoon.

When Vimesh screamed, Jord noted he had an ash gray muzzle and the rest of his fur was gray. “Ahh! Don’t come here, Monster!” Vimesh took some dirt and began to throw it in fear at Jord.

Jord frowned at Vimesh’s display, but he knew that his actions in future would make Vimesh trust him, so he for now let Vimesh continue.

“A-Are you not going to attack me?” Vimesh used his five-fingered hands holding the Grimoire and stripped dense tail to cover himself while asking Jord with a high-pitched voice full of fear.

You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.

“No, you are now my Master. I don’t hope to you trust me from the start, but can you for now stop with the dirt? It is messing with my hooded cape and gloves.” Jord said while finding Vimesh’s English odd. If the Grimoire had given him a way to understand his Master and the inhabitants of here, why Vimesh’s words seem like an antique English full of variations?

When Vimesh visually relaxed by dropping his shoulders, a message that wasn’t from the Grimoire or Earth’s Game Developers slowly became visible at the front of Jord and Vimesh.

Congratulations!

This planet, Onocent, has finally completed all the requisites to receive the first system of the Multiverses, the system of the First Creator or if you want to be more informal, the Empire Building System.

Monsters will begin to spawn through all the planet and they will especially attack the people at night with incredible numbers.

Arise above your peers and become a King to protect the people of the world! Or if you want, you can become a King to dominate them with an iron fist!

The choice is yours!

Good luck!

First wave and Upheaval begin!

“What the-” Before Jord could finish his words, a wolf spawned above Vimesh with brown fur on it elongated face and red fur on it tails, ears, and paws. As it fell to the ground, it opened its jaws to try to eat Vimesh.

Jord ordered his Earth Core to create a hatstand behind Vimesh to impale the wolf before it could reach close to his Master.

The sharp pole together with all its pegs killed the wolf as it spilled blood on Vimesh’s body and futilely struggled against the earth hatstand.

You have gained 0.1 XP.

You have gained the skill Impalement.

Impalement: Thanks to you using a… hatstand?... you are a strange one. Coming back to the skill. Anytime you try to impale something, it is easier to you penetrate your enemies’ defense. Its power raises as you impale more enemies in a short period of time.

Jord had so many questions in his head, but thanks to the incessant screams of Vimesh, he will have to let this for later. “B-Blood... BLOOD! BLOOOOD! AHHH!” Vimesh fainted while spasming like a patient with seizure or someone with blood phobia.

Jord will have to be Vimesh’s nanny for a while since Vimesh seems to have a true hemophobia.

After putting him on his back and creating a tight earth blanket to not let him fall, the Grimoire at Vimesh’s hands said. *Master’s family and a group of people are probably going to be attacked as well, what are you going to do?*

“Let’s save them, I won’t feel good if those people die because they are weak as Master, and are incapable of saving themselves,” Jord said with a smile, when will I meet the Player?

Anyway, saving people comes first.

*I will guide you.*

Jord created at his front a small house without furniture and then extremely curved it to its roof point to the front. Jumping on it and using his hands to hold on the roof, Jord commanded, “O My Heart! If friends aren’t coming to our house, the house will come to them!”

Jord’s Core shone with an affectionate brown glow and the house began to quickly grow to the front with an incredible speed.

With the wind hitting his face and cape flapping, Jord manipulated the growth house to avoid the trees and follow the Grimoire’s instructions.

“How about a little of backstory to make me understand what kind of planet is this?” Jord said after impaling another wolf at the house’s front with a hatstand.

You gained 0.1 XP.

*This world before the Ice Age had something called Holy Woman that united all the Races and created six teachings that can’t be disobeyed. They are...*

1. Exist only one Language, but you can add new words.

2. Gloves with claws and Cloaks are the highest and most important symbols.

3. Platinum, Gold, Bistre, and Dark Green are the most beautiful colors. Revere them.

4. A higher age or close kinship don't make the person more respectable.

5. Don't kill or fight when the moon is red. That day is too important to be soiled by the blood of anyone.

6. Follow the Universal Honor before War.

*The people of this area don’t know the second and third teachings because-*

“Sorry, but you will have to let this for later. We arrived at our objective.” Jord said noting people like Vimesh but with different animals as the base and some Humans, fighting giant rats while holding weapons made of wood and stone or shining minerals that threw some really basic spells at the rats, so this is their magic, but it is not too weak?

“Wake up our Master, I need an excuse to them believe I am not going to hurt them.” Jord used the house to smash a close rat and then impaled three rats close to killing some children at the back of the adults.

*He will just faint again and I doubt someone here will take Master’s words seriously. When the monsters die just make some houses and they will take you as their savior while talking with them. Since they were expelled yesterday they crave for a good place to sleep.*

So his position is not high here? It will be a pain in the ass to make these people believe me.

Jord continued to help in the fight by impaling more rats and taking care to protect the elderly and the children when another message appeared at his front.

Level Up!

You're now Level 2.

Because you are of the Controller type, you will receive +3.5 at Manipulation and +0.5 to the rest of the attributes.

Jord killed two more rats and all the monsters attacking the people died, which made the nearby people look at him with fear, awe, and gratefulness.

+3 to Alignment.

He didn’t want to the situation to escalate so he did what the Grimoire have said and created a big house with furniture at his side while saying, “I didn’t come here to hurt you, I even saved the ones that can’t fight. How about I create houses to you and in exchange, you guys won’t attack me? The beds are soft, I assure you. It took me five years to make a soft earth, I am confident they are comfortable.”

One of the people that looked like a panther with amber eyes and maybe the leader, stepped forward and bowed to Jord. “Thank you for saving my daughter!” Straightening back, he adopted a posture more strict and determined. “But it is impossible to us trust you so easily. Although you can talk, who know that if we enter in this strange earth yellow cube we wouldn’t immediately die?”

There was some shouting at the back against the black tar panther’s opinion. “What are talking about?! It has already saved us and the children! It even made possible to nobody die in this attack! Stop being so distrustful!”

The panther raised his hand and the shouting stopped. “Wait, I still haven't finished. Let me talk with it until the end.” He looked at Jord’s eyes. “Since we were expelled or better ‘outcasted’ yesterday by the Messiah, we wandered through the Worm Forest without a place to rest, and some Humans and Virofolks had become lost of our main group. If you find and protect them, we will trust you without any misgivings.”

“I will do it, just give me the general directions and I will use one of my abilities to search them.” Jord flashed a smile with his jaw full of teeth at the worried panther.

“Now it is just a personal and selfish request of mine. You don’t need to care about it if you don’t want.” The panther dropped to his knees and audibly hit his head full of fur on the ground while crying. “Can you please find and save my wife? I can’t leave this place to search for her since the majority here is weak and don’t know well how to manipulate M.A.N.A. Carmina is also weak, so I don’t even dare to-”

“Calm down. You are the leader here, aren’t you?” Jord said. “I will save her with one condition.”

“What it is? I will do anything.” The panther raised its tear filled face.

“My name is Jord Udalth, can you begin to call me in this way? It kind of hurt hearing ‘it’ so many times.”

“Just calling you by your name and you will help?” The panther said with disbelief stamped on his face.

“Just it,” Jord said. “It has been so many years since someone used my name that I am beginning to even forget what it sounds like.” Jord slightly closed his eyes with sorrow while remembering the joyful memories with the Player and how his loneliness was-

Jord stopped his reasoning before being too late and he starts to cry like the panther.

“Since you told your name, I should do the same. My name is Ethakon Feirith and I am counting on you, Jord Udalth.” Ethakon stopped crying and came back to the Leader Mode.

“I am going now, but it is hard to fight with him on my back. Can you take care of him?” Jord let loose the earth blanket and placed Vimesh on the ground.

“Vimesh! So this useless debauchee is still alive.” Ethakon despite speaking hard words to the fainted Vimesh, he seemed to be relieved and happy by Vimesh still being alive.

Jord took the Grimoire from Vimesh’s hands and went to a place far away from the group of people. “Can you guide me once again?”

The Grimoire sighed. *How a mighty Artifact of the beginning of the Multiverse transformed into a mere GPS?*

“You can complain, but you are going to do this anyway, right? I can feel you won’t let innocents die, you are just like me.” Jord said with a smirk.

*In what aspect?*

“We both are old men searching for a purpose to fill the void in our hearts. For me is the Player, and Vimesh is what fills your leather heart.” Jord said, laughing.

*...When did you discover my gender? I thought I had used an androgynous voice.*

“You tried to hide? I from the start already thought you were a man. You need to get better at disguising your voice.”

*...Fine, but if I am going to become a GPS, I will act like a true one and you will be the car.*

*Calculating coordinates… aside from a Human and a Half-Viro that are separated, the rest are in the same place. Calculating the shortest route.... turn left after sixty meters.* The Grimoire said with a robotic voice that seemed to be almost dying because of the bad quality of it.

“Shouldn’t you be a mighty Artifact of the beginning of the Multiverse?! How come you accepted this so easily with a robotic voice so fake?!”

*Hey, car. I said turn left after sixty meters.*

“I don’t know who is more strange, I that use furniture and houses to kill or an Artifact that got into the role of a GPS so quickly.”

*Just go on, Car.*

“Okay, GPS.” The Car followed once again the GPS’s instructions to save people.
