The gods were real. They were our protectors, our saviors, our light. But they're gone now. The apocalypse was an event called Ragnarok, a massive battle that destroyed everything humanity had worked so hard to build. Leaving only ruins to show what would have been. This event sealed Midgard, the realm of the humans, away from the rest and striped it of most of its magic.  Most of the gods were killed in the fight. The few that survived either walk the earth, slowly dying due to lack of mana or left this plane for a better life. Before they left a prophecy was issued. A prophecy to lead the people in their darkest hour. This was their last message to us before they left. Leaving us this destroyed hell hole to call home.
