Matt was a bitter and lazy old man who'd given up on life, having somehow lived into his late seventies despite his complete apathy and total lack of genuine human connections. Yet, he only had himself to blame for his past. Somehow retaining healthy cognitive functions despite his advanced age, he often thought about his past. If such a grimy and worthless person like him received a second chance, could he even make good use of it? Perhaps he would find the answer to that sooner than he'd hoped What to expect: -A main character who has to struggle constantly and deceive his foes as well as make allies to survive, despite having memories from his past life as his prime advantage. -A world where resources are somewhat scarce compared to our world, and competition is fierce to monopolize said resources. -A setting during an era similar to the dark ages of Earth, but where magic and other supernatural powers also exist. -A plot that puts the life lessons of someone who has experienced much hardship into practice, and analyzes how one's decisions affect their own growth or regression, as well as how they affect the people they interact with. -A story where every action or consequence matters, even if it's not the main focal point. -Occasional changes in perspective to view the world through the eyes of other characters. -The eerie absence of a "final boss" like character or being, at least for this story...
