1987, Ivanovo. Four-year-old Misha is placed in the care of his neighbor, Lydia Nikolaevna, after his mother leaves the country. Lydia, a lonely woman, agrees to take care of the boy but soon encounters his introversion. Having endured a childhood tragedy, Misha is withdrawn, lost in his own world and memories.
