It was comforting to feel like the gods were watching over her from their sunlit city at the top of the world. So when a spirit appears in her house in the Roots claiming that those same gods have killed each other, Gwen understandably has questions. Gwen learns that she and fourteen other Root-dwellers have been chosen to replace the Beohur--if they can make it to the top of Ascangen, that is.
