Synopsis
"Edward and the Magical Backpack: The Sphinx Mask" is a story about a thirteen-year-old boy who goes on vacation to his grandfather's village. He is excited about the opportunity to get to know him better. There, he learns that his grandfather, Tomas White, was a famous treasure hunter who traveled the world and experienced thousands of adventures. Initially skeptical of his grandfather's stories of battles with cyclops, friendships with elves, and encounters with wizards, Edward's doubts are quickly dispelled when his grandfather hands him a magical backpack. Its contents surprise Edward, as inside, he finds a flying carpet, an invisibility cloak, a lightning-shooting wand, a map indicating the direction of travel, and what appears to be an empty cage.
Grandfather teaches Edward how to use the magical items and then asks for a favor. He wants Edward to find the golden Sphinx Mask, which the elderly man has been seeking for years. According to legend, the mask grants the ability to communicate with the deceased, something Tomas White desires the most—to reunite with his beloved late wife. After some hesitation, Edward agrees.
From that moment on, a magical adventure unfolds, filled with incredible events, including avoiding deadly traps in a pyramid, time travel, a battle with copper statues in a sun temple, flying on Persian dragons, facing twenty-meter-long yellow snakes in the desert, pirate attacks, a battle with orcs in the Colosseum, and ultimately a confrontation with a legion of Roman soldiers.
During the journey, Edward befriends Cleopatra—an Egyptian princess with magical abilities—and Alfarin—a young Viking with courage and a natural inclination for combat. With the help of his new companions, Edward manages to find the Sphinx Mask.
Upon returning, his grandfather puts the mask on him, allowing Edward to meet his grandmother, whom he couldn't remember as she passed away when he was just a year old. It is a touching reunion.
Edward has experienced incredible adventures, but as the saying goes, the appetite grows with eating, and the boy can't wait for the next journey.
"Edward and the Magical Backpack: The Sphinx Mask" is a short tale of magic, friendship, courage, love and adventure aimed at children and adolescents aged 9-13.
