Abi, born under taboo-like circumstances in a small Ibo village, is the daughter of a mother who claims she fell in love with  an "alien", a being she refers to as 'onye obia.' Vilified and ostracized by the village, Abi's mother is saved by a compassionate local priest, only to give birth to a child the villagers believe is a demon. However, one nun sees the child differently and takes Abi to England to raise her. This is her story, a tale that spans through time and space.
