Chapter 07 - Bad Wolf and Crazy Doll, who will win?

Chapter 07 - Bad Wolf and Crazy Doll, who will win?

‘What the hell was that?’ Roran thought as he clung to the back of the wolf he was riding. ‘My daughter calmly talked with that beast… even after it threatened eating her!’ He couldn’t understand why her daughter wasn’t scared of the beast even if he, who was an experienced hunter, was he couldn’t understand why a 10 year old girl wouldn’t scream as she looked inside the open mouth of a wolf.

‘This beast needs to be killed soon.’ Roran said as he looked up and saw his daughter clinging to the great wolf’s black fur. Her red hood flying behind her while a smile was put on her face. ‘This can’t continue to go on…’ He thought.

Roran was scared of the tone the wolf used with him and his daughter, he was like an evil beast lying dormant waiting for the right time to claim his kill, but he did not attack, even when the cookies Laura had placed before him ended and she continued to brush his fur.

‘Now that I think about it… didn’t he looked like he was enjoying it?’ He asked but shook it out of his mind once he looked at the fierce appearance of the beast. Its black coat with a white underbelly, the red eyes, long fangs and claws. ‘It was all my mind toying with me… I couldn’t be more stressed… that beast… the voice… everything on him is what I call ‘dangerous’.’ He said trying to find a reason to end the life of the beast as to protect his family, but he was too scared to do anything because the beast looked scarier the more he looked at it.

“We’re here.” The Wolf said as he stopped at the edge of the forest. “You can walk on your own from here.” He said looking at Roran who quickly jumped down from the wolf he was riding.

“No… Mister Wolf, come with us.” Laura said and Roran paled at the girl’s words. “I’m sure you would like to see the village.” She said to the wolf.

“There is no need. At least for now.” The Wolf said but he did take a step forward. “But I’ll drop you before the gate.” He said and Roran’s throat became dry.

‘What will happen to the village if this beast gets attacked?’ He thought as he followed behind together with the wolf he had been riding.

“Mister Wolf, why are you bigger than before?” Laura asked for the Nth time.

“I am growing bigger because I’m still young.” The beast answered with the same answer as before and Roran couldn’t believe that it was still young as he looked at the size of the wolf once more.

“Then, when Mister Wolf is older… will you be bigger?” She asked without being intimidated by the answer.

“Probably. Now, hop down or I’ll shake you off.” He said as he lied down just so that Laura could jump as we arrived before the gates.

“Then see you again, Mister Wolf.” She said waving her hand to the beast.

“Don’t come to see me anymore. The next time I’ll make sure to eat you.” The wolf said as he walked away.

“Mister Wolf is cool.” Laura said as she ran inside the village.

“I just hope we get this beast killed as soon as possible…” Roran said before he walked to his house, but was stopped before it by the men of the village and he had to explain everything he could to them and the reason was simple, once the horse was free he ran as quick as possible back home.

“They are just making me wait… I’m sure they’re coming…” Terra said as she watched the outside of her dungeon. “They’re waiting to come when I’ll be least waiting then attack me with all they have.” She said as she looked at her hands just to see the branch she caught and a few stones on the ground besides her.

Terra had waited but no attack started and she was waiting to see if it would ever come, but she was too scared to drop her guard and wasn’t trying to go all the way to look at the place her minion died.

Terra knew the strength of her own minions, they weren’t strong nor fast, but they were enough, even if they were weak, they could use weapons, which at this moment were nothing more than branches and stones, as well work to create more complicated work like the trenches she had them make.

“Come, I’m ready to fight you!” She said at the dungeon entrance as she waited for the killer of her minion, but it didn’t appear.

She didn’t eat well all day because she was too nervous of an attack and her normal self had been thrown all over as even a small noise would make her jump and turn over.

“No one will take me by surprise… I’m not going to lose everything! I did my best to create this place!” Terra said raising her fists towards the sky. “Even if I die… I don’t plan to not attacking at all! I’ll use every ounce of my power to finish the one who killed my sweet doll!” She said just to be followed by the other doll which soon raised their arms.

“You guys… raise our defenses! We need fortified places to attack the enemy! Go forth and prepare yourself to war!” Terra said as she watched the raising arms of her little army of dolls just for them to turn and start to use mud and dirt to make some mounts so they could hide behind.

Kai opened his mouth as he looked at his dungeon. “This need some more growing…” He said but decided to not change anything. Even if he couldn’t control the life of any other creature that was from his dungeon, he could only wait as they grew in number, but never too high because his minions were always on look out to kill and control their growth.

He looked around but could only see the small rabbits and the lizards he normally ate, nothing really worthy of a hunt was inside the dungeon.

‘Maybe growing other types of food instead of only the herbs I got from the tutorial will help? Maybe berries and mushrooms from the forest to help them grow stronger.’ Kai thought before he called two wolves and two Grey Wolves.

“You’re going on a different type of mission this afternoon. You are to go out and bring berries and mushroom for the little critters on our dungeon.” He said looking at the beasts. “They’re too weak and small let’s make them bigger and fatter.” He smiled and the wolves growled before they run outside.

‘I just hope they find it…’ Kai thought as he looked around the menu to see if there were any herb to help the creatures of his dungeon to evolve faster by themselves, be it his or the food supply.

“Mana Herb and Mana Tree…” He said looking at the menu. “The price is too high.” He said while crying. “I might not have enough DP for quite some time if I use it… but this might be a need.” He continued to ramble and decided that for now only the Mana Herb should suffice since his dungeon was still too low level.

As soon as he selected the herbs he smiled as they appeared in five places before he felt the air around them change.

The air was heavier and he felt that it was the right choice, the Mana Herb would soon spread but not without his help because soon the rabbits and lizards would notice it.

He used 10 DP to spread them around his dungeon and to make their reproduction be faster as well.

“Tomorrow we will have some more batches of this herb.” Kai smiled before he walked outside his dungeon to wait for the returning wolves, which were bringing some berries and mushroom with their mouth.

When a good amount was found he stopped their work and ordered them to spread them all around the floor before using another 10 DP to make all the plants in his dungeon have a faster growth rate, and he was amused to see that the berries were sprouting and soon would grow bigger.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“This is what we lacked.” Kai laughed as he watched over his domain where he was King. And as soon as the berries grew to a foot tall he was surprised by a loud sound. “I leveled up once more.” He said with a smile as the sound finally died.

Kai looked outside and seeing that the night had arrived he quickly ordered the wolves and wild dogs to stop and go sleep, while making them take turns to stand guard at the dungeon entrance as he logged out as he set his boss to sleep during the night.

“So you’re not coming today.” Terra sighed as night finally fell over. “But I’ll not stay without doing anything, you know?” She said and looked around her feet just to smile.

She was finally able to breath and think and seeing the ‘weapons’ she had on hand she quickly decided to make her minions create a few weapons for themselves with the stones and branches she had.

Long branches with stone tip made a lance, a stone hammer which was a small branch with a big blunt stone on one end and even axes.

The idea came to her once she looked outside and she found some ivies and with those she was able to create low level weapons for her small group, making them stronger than before as they now had a better way to cause damage instead of using only their hands to strangle their prey to death.

Terra was so stressed all day that all she did was develop her dungeon into a small fighting force, nothing too big, but they were all armed with weapons and there was a reason why her or her minions wouldn’t be attacked while outside the dungeon, they had no meat and the beasts outside didn’t even feel that they would need to kill the small creatures just for the fun, so they only looked at them with curiosity and if one was damaged it could still run away after leaving one or two arms behind.

Terra’s only regret was that she wasn’t able to make any slingshot with the resources she had, this made her group not have enough ranged attacks but when it came to close quarters, now they had some weapons to protect themselves.

“I need to have them make shields too.” Terra thought but she had only branches that were not big enough and even if they were tied together no shield would be able to be created. “But with the materials I have at hand… those will have to wait for quite a while.” She sighed as she continued to work during the night so more dirt wall could be raised. But when morning finally came, it didn’t take long before a shadow fell over the entrance of her dungeon.

She was scared when she looked outside from the end of the first room. A big wolf, which easily surpassed two meters tall stood in its four legs. The back fur on its body looked like it was made to eat all the light that was shining over it, but the white underbelly made it be a beautiful sight.

It was then that Terra finally noticed the three red eyes… two red eyes and a red gem on the top of its forehead.

She was scared of the player that was before her, so scared because she could feel the aura of power it had, it was clearly stronger than her. It was a dangerous player and her hands were shaking as she held the lance tighter and tighter.

“A-Attack!” She finally shouted and stones were thrown at the beast.

Kai, logged in soon after he left because he had only took a small break from the game just for him to go and sleep in his dungeon. Just to wake up at dawn and eat some of the food that was on his dungeon.

“Come with me.” Kai said at the four wolves and Grey Wolves as he left the dungeon. The place he was going was where he had hunted before and killed a strange wood doll.

He made his way there while avoiding any animal he could if it was not possible, he killed them before sending the animal back to his dungeon.

It didn’t take much before he discovered a somewhat clean land, it had almost no branches at the ground and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

“This way you’re leaving a clear sign that says: ‘my dungeon is this way, come.’ and since you’re inviting, I’ll go.” Kai said as he walked to the center of the field just to find a cave like his but he was surprised by the small mounds of dirt all around its entrance as well the entrance of the dungeon itself.

It had a different feeling than his own dungeon but not minding the mound Kai lead his minions towards the entrance only to see a small doll, which was at the size of a 15 years old girl and the dress it was wearing was made of gears, which made him stare at the doll for quite some time before he took any action.

“A-Attack!” He heard the doll shout and stones were thrown at him and his wolves from all around them, even from the back.

“Avoid!” Kai shouted as he kicked the ground jumping backwards while the minions too jumped away from the falling stones.

Kai was able to avoid some of the stones but some did hit his fur, but there were no real damage as the power behind them was small, but the stones would be a pain to deal with as he had no way to attack.

Kai stopped and breathed in before releasing a loud howl, which shook the the earth under his feet and the air around him. It was powerful so powerful that the attack stopped.

“You’re attacking me?” Kai said looking at the mounds and soon dolls started running away back to the dungeon. He was surprised to see a great number of dolls, even though he himself had just a few of his minions with him, the number far surpassed his own.

“Y-You attacked first!” The voice said from inside the dungeon and soon the doll wearing a dress appeared at the opening. It was shaking, this time he could hear the sound coming from its joints. “You killed one of my minions at the forest and now you came to kill my dungeon! I won’t let this happen!” She said pointing her stone spear towards him.

“That… that was a mistake, I did not attack you.” Kai said with a sigh. “I was hunting big Lizards to feed to my minions and when I landed I killed one weird doll.” He said looking at the doll before him.

“You’re lying!” The Doll said and shook her hands before her body. “I’m not losing to sneaky people!” She said and ordered her minions to move forward.

“Sneaky…” Kai smiled as he once more howled, this time he did not suppress the sound and even the leaves from the trees around him shook. “If I’m sneaky, then I’ll hunt you.” Kai said as he leaped towards the closest doll. Its body had some markings but he did not mind it as he used his weight and the power from the jump to break it before it could attack with its ‘spear’.

He smiled as breaking sounds came from all around him but he did not stop to look back as he made his way towards the ‘boss’ of the dungeon which was attacking him by throwing sharp stones. He would avoid them but one hit him on his back and he felt pain, but when he looked over his shoulder what he saw made him mad.

A small doll jumped and in its hands a small lance could be seen as it stabbed Kai’s back.

Seeing this all he could do was roar in pain and he shook the doll before he broke it with one of his claws.

“Don’t break my dolls!” The boss shouted and he looked at her. “They’re the minions I have…” She said clenching her hands around the small lance she had.

“You’re the one who attacked, I would say the same to you, you’re hurting my wolves.” Kai said looking around and seeing that even if he was able to evade some of the dolls’ attacks, his wolves weren’t so lucky and had some cuts from the stones that were on the tips of the dolls’ weapons. “My wolves are my hunters, without them… I’ll have to hunt more and more!” He said growling to the doll.

“It is not nice to start without a presentation, don’t you think?” Isis’ voice said before she appeared in the middle of the battlefield stopping both dungeon and minions.

“So, you’re here…” Kai said looking at the doll.

“I am and the thing I want to know is, why are you fighting each other?” Isis asked looking at both the doll and Kai.

“Because he came here after killing one of my dolls!” The Doll Boss answered.

“I attacked after you attacked! I only landed on the doll and it broke!” Kai said growling at the girl.

“I see… so let me change the question, WHY ARE YOU TWO FIGHTING WHEN YOU SHOULD BE DEVELOPING YOUR DUNGEONS?” The AI shouted startling both bosses.

“But we are having a fight here, can’t you see it?” Kai said looking around.

“I can see that, but what you call a fight can’t be used at all.” Isis said smiling. “You see… all you two did was meaningless.” She said spreading her arms.

“Meaningless?” The Doll Boss asked looking at Isis. “He killed one of my minions then comes here and kill another bunch!” She said gesturing all over the place showing the broken spears and axes.

“Well… he did kill them, but he didn’t kill them.” Isis said and the two bosses tilted their heads at her words. “You see, you aren’t doing a PVP match, so all the dead minions actually didn’t die… they will soon reappear in your dungeon later.” She said shrugging.

“So…when I summoned the ones I could…” The Doll started saying.

“It was at the right time the killed minion revived, so it looked like you summoned him too.” Isis completed. “And this place… you guys made a mess and it will be clear to others that this is a dungeon entrance.” She grinned looking at the Doll.

“No way… I fought for nothing?” The Doll asked and the two nodded their heads. “What was the real meaning then?! Why did you come to my dungeon then?!” She asked looking at Kai.

“To talk… and apologize for killing your minion.” He said looking down. “And before you ask, I brought my minions so we could hunt after the talk.” He said glaring at the doll.

“Then… I’m sorry for jumping on conclusions…” She said bowing her head.

“Then I’ll be going.” Kai said before turning to the six wolves. “We’re going to the dungeon to heal ourselves.” He said turning to the forest.

“Wait!” The doll called and Kai stopped just to look over his shoulders. “Aren’t you going to apologize?” She asked.

“Why would I? I didn’t really kill your minion and you’re the one that attacked me.” Kai said. “Besides, I wouldn’t come here if I knew your minion wasn’t dead.” He said leaving the area.

“Wait! I want my apologize! You just killed 10 of my dolls!” The Doll’s shout arrived at Kai’s ears but he didn’t turn back as he walked back to his dungeon so his wolves could heal themselves before they departed once more.
