Lester, a college drop out in his mid twenties who is drowning in hopelessness, resorts to a device known as the Dreamcatcher, finding the means of an easy way out of his miserable life.  But instead of dying, he finds himself awakening in a new world, an unconventional isekai, a dream as people would call—what is more, he has become a girl called Ayame with his memories gone. This world was once a mental support world where people who got lost in life enter to seek escape from real world.  On the other dimension, monsters exist representing their past traumas. While getting supports from the other players, they would face and defeat their traumas. However, the safe territory was ravaged by a war in which different groups faced each other and fought ferociously.  Ayame was recruited by one of the factions involved in the war and was forced to make peace to the war instead of fighting her own trauma.
