Dimensional Recon Exploration and Assessment Department, "official" Acronym DREAD, what I like to call it: Dead. Take your pick they both work. I mean, sure, we go in wearing the latest in environmental suits (allegedly), robotic exoskeleton(completely reliable), with enough oxygen filters and nutrient paste to last a month(If it hasn't been contaminated). However, none of that matters if you step from the Insertion Chamber and straight into a lava pit at temperatures close to the surface of the sun. It's not instant death mind you, the suits are tough, but you better hope land is in sight because you have about an hour to get out or all that will be left of you will be your obituary on the International News Network a year later. Who am I kidding there is no way this shit is legal, or if it is, no way this shit is public. "Yes. We. Your centralized, absolutely democratic and in no way totalitarian world wide government are loaning our soldiers to the Resource Collection and Processing corporation. Who are sending them to different dimensions because earth has run dry. By the way it has a casualty rate higher than the Fourth Global War."  3 of 4 die on their first mission. Not that they tell us, but if you know you went in with 19 other people and a year later comeback to see only 4 people milling about in decontamination... You do the math. I wonder where my next Insertion will take me? This is my first novel of any kind. the only other thing I have written was a short story for school when I was 12. I am going to be using this novel for testing, learning, as well as a general hobby so expect inconsistent releases and amateur story telling. If right about now you are asking why I am bothering to write and submit this? easy. I am currently writing for myself. I am not trying to craft a story with the goal of entertaining an audience. If you happen to like it great I am happy for you.  Constructive criticism is welcome.
