A turning point in a goddesses life

For a week and three days I was visited by the king and queen as they brought an alchemist from one of the most prestigious magic school. Even my own children brought over some creatures they’ve noticed to have large amounts of magic to see if they could help as well.

I appreciated everyone for their help . Yet not long after Amber’s parents sent letters to their homelands. Word came that it would take twelve days to travel for both parties, for eight days they’ll be alone but for the last four they’d be joined by the imperial forces and alchemists to help protect them from dangerous creatures and to aid in their magic formula.

I asked a few of my children to support the elves and wood druids, as their speed would get them there in less than a day.

Drogan sat lazily on top of my nose . The heat from my scales was somewhat cooling to him compared to the sweltering heat from Solair. He always came to visit me so I was never alone for to long in the day.

“ Bone, you never told me what kind of creature you’re wanting to turn into once you get this spell the magicians are working on?” he rolled over onto his stomach to look at me properly.

I gave a thoughtfulness to his question

“ I want to be smaller, much more minute than this form. Yet without the spells or magic they are using to help make me that size, I will have an immense amount of unchecked power running amok.” I explained while huffing out a large stack of smoke from my nose the color turned from white to gray to black.

He pondering with my answer giving thought before asking again

“ Are you going to stay as a dragon ? Will you be small like pixies or small like a cat ?” He was truly curious to what form or shape I’d take once given the chance to become smaller than I was.

I gazed with my pinkish red, with a hint of purple, eyes towards the sky as Solair set over the horizon. Purring filled my throat as I dreamed of days where I could walk amongst the cities and their streets filled with crowds of people, days where I could eat the foods they ate and sit with them listening to their stories inside their homes, seeing how they did their jobs and to be able to travel without harming my planet with destructive footfalls and tail wagging.

“ Maybe you could take up a human form. You could come to school with me and learn, study and dance around, playing with us! You could learn to hold a sword or go riding on horses or lettis, animals seem to like you!” He rambled tripping over one sentence to another as his excitement grew.

“ You can go to balls and talk to noble lady’s you can eat bread, go to salons, look at jewelry, wear dresses….!” He blushed softly as I looked at him quizzically.

“ I bet you’ll be the most beautiful person if you become human” he muttered softly as he rubbed his head looking slightly embarrassed. He was ten but he was a growing human so it was a normal reaction to be thinking about how a female could be beautiful.

I laughed with a childish manner, life as a human look alike would be way easier than just being a tiny dragon .

“ I would like to try living like a human. That would be something. “ I chuckled as it humored Drogan to know I agreed with him.

Drogan softly rubbed the fur on my snout, not that there was much to it as it was just soft skin and a scattering of scales. The pinkness shimmered, changing with Solairs' light. Sometimes he’d see small shimmers of the rainbow on my scales as light refracted at different angles.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

“ Your scales are so pretty and unique. I've never seen anything like it on the other dragons, is it because you’re a goddess?” He looked up into my eyes and I huffed out thin plumes of gray smoke.

“ Yes it is, my scales are made up of stardust and fragments of space, therefore I’m not made of organic material like you or anything else on this planet. You may hear a heartbeat, or see me breathing in the air, and I can bleed just like you, but unlike you I am not able to age or die, even compared to other gods I am different, an anomaly, something created from death and destruction as it was also taking from me.” I softly explained

He looked at him with furrowed brows

“ You’re not an anomaly, you're my friend!” He hugged onto my snout lovingly as he gave me a soft kiss

I appreciated the gesture and smiled heartily. Genuinely it made me feel love towards the gifts as they all showed such gentleness and respect towards me and my children.

“ A friend…” I breathed out a much more colorful stack of smoke from my mouth, it bubbled with sparks and tiny explosions, some swirled around as they fizzled out from the smoke while drogan turned his head looking at the light show on display as the evening sky made the colors pop out much more then if it where the beginning of the day.

“ Wow, that's so pretty, so many different colors, what do you call it ?” He cheered as the smoke soon let up from my throat and vanished.

“ How about you name it? “ I spoke with a chuckle, he truly was a brave child just as King Atticus, he would make a wonderful king for his kingdom when that time came.

“ Hmm, a light show? Fire poppers? Uhh ohhhh! “ He exclaimed as he sat up with whatever brilliant name he came up with.

“ Fireworks!” He professed with complete utter exhilaration. His eyes sparkled in the dying light as the day ended, and night fell in mere minutes. I roared with laughter and thankfulness

“ Yes my sweet child that sounds utterly perfect to express what was seen. Fireworks a display of sparks and small explosions that light up in different colors and shapes” I said as he hugged my snout

“ Now off you go, Tarluk is waiting to take you home.” I spoke calmly as my child neared us nuzzling at the side of my snout.

“ Oh before I forget Amber said that with the dragons you sent over everyone is arriving the day after tomorrow the trip was shortened to only three days” he beamed as he hopped onto Tarluk’s back before they soon flew off towards the castle.

The news was great to hear. I would miss this little human. He was as bright and sweet as daffodils. Being able to shape-shift would help makeing my other planets very easier as I could get into all different kinds of crevices. I wouldn’t be so scary to the other gods anymore. Only a handful of gods liked me anyways, some found my dragon form too intimidating or outright frightening. Hopefully having a human-like form would show them I mean no harm and just want to make new acquaintances.

Another thing unlike all the other gods, I needed rest, a replenishing of lost power. I got hungry as well. Gods never need to eat but I did. Dying stars were a delicacy to me but most of all black holes were my favorite thing to eat. They broke down much of the star they took from making it easier on my stomach to use that energy to bring nutrients to my starforge.

Looking up at the star filled night sky I smiled more thinking about all the different kinds of new creatures I’d make friends with on my other planets when I got around to creating them. I didn’t feel as lonely within the planet as it was. My children were happily bonded to the gifts given to them. I noticed soon that three of the four moons around both planets were nice and bright. I blinked, soon growing puzzled. I never made any moons for my planets, especially four but I do remember them popping up into existence when I made the first of my children. The only gods responsible for that were Lumanier and Atlanta. Star struck lovers, Lumanier made moons while Atlanta took over the seas. Their love making the moons' force over the water a relationship of pure innocent love. The moon pulling the tides, while giving light in the night. The waves crashing onto the beaches and clashing against the rocky coast as they danced to an invisible melody of the moons' song. Romantic truly, I wondered if he made other moons for the other planets. Probably so he loved giving moons to planets even if they didn’t have life on them. Astronomers who lived on a habitable planet would be able to see them if they built things called telescope.
