A sheepish cleric has been tasked with following the travels of two strange, supernatural beings in order to determine their nature- one, a great firebreathing machine called Loomis, and the other a brittle creature of living wax calling itself Wayne, the King of all Candles. Donnel's responsibility is to keep a safe distance, not interfere, and catalogue their behavior. He must then report his findings back to the church so that they can make their determination. Are these beings holy and righteous, or crude abominations? It all comes down to what Donnel writes, and it's getting harder every day to be impartial. This story is told in short, non-chronological chunks, each an entry from Donnel's journal.
