There was a laugh, a laugh that, at the time, only served as torment, but nevertheless a beautiful laugh, behind the door.       A middle-aged beat cop stationed in Camden, New Jersey, takes in a young, stubborn, and streetwise prostitute after a sting operation leaves her with nowhere to stay.  Getting to know each other, they bond over their troubled pasts, and within months, they find they are strongly attracted to one another, mind, body and soul, but in a sudden twist of events, they're targeted by the American mafia. The cop turns in his gun and badge, the call-girl resigns, and their lives are changed forever.
