Chapter 22: The Exchange of Words.

Chapter 22: The Exchange of Words.

The whole arena stared at the ring in shock. Some even had their mouths open. For several moments, there was a deathly quiet all around the area. Some people that recovered from their shock fastest, hurriedly looked over towards the Meng Clan Ancestor.

On the face of the Ancestor was a similar look of shock as the rest of the arena however, it was only then that they noticed that three people were smiling as if they had anticipated it; they were Headmistress Xi, Qing Zhao and Instructor Sheng. Seeing those smiling faces, they sucked in a sharp breath as they returned their gazes towards Curo. One of them muttered to himself, “A simple “oops” is not going to cut it this time.”

As if on cue, the Meng Clan Ancestor shot up from his seat and stared murderously at Curo. Just as Curo felt enormous pressure weigh down on him, a cold snort echoed out from Instructor Sheng and the pressure was negated. Instructor Sheng then coldly said, “We have never bullied your Juniors if they overestimated their opponents….” As his words trailed off, everyone followed his gaze. At the other end of the gaze, there was a young man laying down on his back with a Healing Hall Elder working on his injuries.

The older foxes present all understood what he was implying. When that Meng Gu had crippled that Student, they had not raised a fuss over it. Instead, they sent in a stronger junior. What really was a clear slap in the face was that the Meng Clan Ancestor had just said, that Meng Gu had been frightened by the 2 Qi Spring difference and had used his full force. Now, the situation was reversed, Meng Gu had 8 Qi Springs over Curo and he was the one embed in a wall.

If the Meng Clan pursued this, then it was obvious that they weren’t here for a friendly exchange. Everyone’s eyes sharpened when they reached this far with their thought process. They were now waiting, how was the Meng Clan going to deal with this. As Curo observed the expressions of the spectators present, he smiled maliciously.

He had successfully planted the seeds of doubt in the minds of everyone present. Now, depending on how the people of the Meng Clan responded, it could end very badly for them. When the Meng Clan Ancestor saw the situation tilt against them so much, he could do nothing but grit his teeth. How could he not see that they had used what he had just said against them.

When he sat down, he threw Curo a malicious look but was even more infuriated when he saw the malicious smile, directed right towards him. “This fucking brat! He is deliberately provoking me!” He felt blood slowly well up in his throat from anger. However, he pressed it down and didn’t say anything. Seeing this, various people present let out a deep breath.

They had clearly seen the provocation in Curo’s smile. “That brat truly has balls of steel to even dare to provoke that man even under these circumstances. Qing Zhao’s smile had almost reached his ears as he wanted to laugh out loudly and rub this all over the Meng Clan Ancestor’s face. However, a glare from Headmistress Xi kept him from doing so.

Seeing as nothing more would come from it, Curo slowly started walking off stage. The Referee then raised a brow and said, “Once you win in the ring, unless you are unable to battle, you are the King of the Ring and can not leave.” Curo then turned towards the man and said with a smile, “I am afraid of that I might be too heavy handed for the Meng Clan flowers.” He shook his head and continued, “I have only fought Life and Death Battles, I have a hard time holding back my strength. Even now, when I held back half my strength, that little green house flower ended up like that.” Hearing these words, the people present all sucked in a deeper breath than ever before as they looked towards Curo.

One even exclaimed, “Where the hell did they dig out someone with such a venomous tongue?” The people surrounding the man could only gulp and nod their heads. The ridicule in the boys voice was only overshadowed by the venomousness of his words. When the Elders of the Meng Clan heard that, several wanted to rush to the stage and slap the daylights out of the brat but were stopped the moment another snort rang out. When they looked over towards the origin of the snort and saw Instructor Sheng daring them to make a move, with great reluctance, they halted their steps.

The Meng Clan Ancestor’s face turned green as he asked in an enraged tone, “I truly wonder where you managed to learn that tongue of yours brat.” Curo looked at the man with no hint of fear in his eyes and smiled innocently, “But from the Great Meng Clan of course. I learned from the words they spat out before the matches.” Hearing this, nearly every person in the Arena was floored from shock. “Does this boy truly not know what fear is?”

The boy had ridiculed the Meng Clan with every single sentence that came out from his mouth. This wasn’t a matter of not knowing ones limits but this was deliberate, outright slapping of the face. Each slap was clearer and crisper than the last and the people present were already afraid that if the boy opened his mouth the next time, he would directly spit on their faces. As they looked on in shock, the Meng Clan Ancestor leaked blood from the corners of his mouth.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

He grit his teeth and said, “Good, very good. Then I dare you to wait for a bit brat. Let’s see how you do against the true elites of the Clan.” Hearing this Curo let out an annoyed sigh and said in annoyance, “You old bat, when are you going to accept the face I have already given you and realize, each and every one of your Meng Clan’s precious darlings is going to end up like what’s his name in the wall.” Before the man could retort Curo crossed his hands on his chest and said, “Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, however, a third time is deliberate.”

Everyone sucked in a deep breath as they thought about these words and the implication behind them. He had already crippled one of the Meng Clan Juniors by “accident”. The second time could be consider a coincidence but the third time would give the Meng Clan a reason to attack the Hidden Dragon Academy justly. If they still continued to push it now, then they would land in an awkward situation when Curo delivered on his words.

As they looked at the Meng Clan Ancestor in amusement, they saw him hesitate. If he truly brought over the elites and they all ended up in the same manner, then what…. They could not seek justice as the boy had clearly negated all of the excuses they could use with that one sentence. If they still tried to push it after they all lost, then their Meng Clan would be seen as the villains.

As he hesitated, Curo took the opportunity to continued walking off stage. The man then grit his teeth and said, “Do you dare face off against the Meng Clan geniuses?” Hearing this, Curo sighed heavily as he turned around and looked at the man in the eyes again, this time his eyes turned from normal blue eyes into azure blue reptilian eyes for a moment. He then said with a wicked smile, “If you lose, I hope you aren’t going to hold this against me. I did warn you guys.” Hearing these sharp words, the spectators were at a loss already.

This young boy in front of them showed not even the slightest bit of respect to the Meng Clan. A Paper Talisman burned up in front of the Meng Clan Ancestor and the man then smiled evilly, “I hope you truly can act so arrogantly and disrespectfully when you meet the geniuses of my Clan.” Curo snorted coldly, “Respect is earned not given. Your Meng Clan has done nothing but disrespect our Hidden Dragon Academy, why should I show any respect to you?” This one sentence silenced the whole Dragon Arena.

Not even the Meng Clan Ancestor could find words to refute. It had been like Curo had said, they had not put the Hidden Dragon Academy in their eyes from the moment they had arrived. To them, these Students were all only mediocre people. Not even worth their attention, however, right now; Curo had exhibited strength far stronger than the Juniors that were present form his Clan. His tone and haughtiness… Weren’t they exactly the same as the ones they had used when they arrived and realized the strength of the Hidden Dragon Academy. Having their own words thrown right back at them like this made all of the Meng Clan Juniors fidget awkwardly. None of them had the strength to even stand in the same ring as Curo, to make him shut up…. That was nothing but a pipe dream for them.

Meng Gu had been the strongest of the batch that had come and even he had lost as miserably as he did after one punch. How would they end up then? Not to mention, Curo had repeatedly said, that he didn’t know how to hold back and every person that would step up the stage would end up like him or worse. As the awkward atmosphere enveloped the Arena, the Meng Clan Ancestor gnashed between grit teeth, “Good, good. I would like to meet your parents to teach them a thing or two about manners.” Hearing this, Curo’s eyes turned cold.

This sentence had truly enraged him however before he could retort, a man stood up from the standings. A middle aged man then said, “He is my son, I would say your manners are lacking not his.” Hearing this sentence, every ones gazes furiously turned towards the man. When the man released his aura and people realized that is was only a Saint Realm aura, they shook their heads in dejection. Some times, it would be best to retreat and swallow the insults, rather than seeks his own death. Curo however looked at the man in surprise as he muttered, “Dad broke through to the Saint Realm.”

He then released a genuine smile towards the man and it was only then that he noticed a young man in his twenties sitting next to him. The man then glanced at Curo and smiled. Curo could do nothing but let out a deep sigh as he knew what was about to transpire. The Meng Clan Ancestor stared at Ji Long venomously and just as he wanted to say something, his eyes stopped on the young man next to him. Seeing him, the man’s pupils dilated as his breathing got heavy. Just as everyone were puzzled, the young man stood up with a laugh and said maliciously, “What did you Meng shits say about my Clan’s youngsters manners?”

As the sentence ended, a suffocating aura erupted from the man, the aura even enveloped and suppressed the aura of the Meng Clan Ancestor. As he people present were curious as to who this person was, the Meng Clan Ancestor shot backwards through the air, seemingly wanting to escape. Jing Fang waved his sleeve and the man stopped mid air. Seeing this, everyone sucked in a deep breath. Jing Fang then slowly rose to the air and walked slowly in front of the Meng Clan Ancestor and asked coldly, “What did you say about my Ji Clan’s Young Master’s manners?”

This sentence froze the entire Dragon Arena as Qing Zhao and Instructor Sheng could do nothing but smile wryly towards the actions of Jing Fang.
