Diary entry number 41

An hour or two later

Sundrop Amber and I

Set up camp roughly a mile down the tracks away from the crash site

Amber was being skittish of Sundrop despite sundrops efforts.

So I do got to admit she does seem to be adapting fairly quickly.

Seeing as she didn't downright call sundrop a monster as soon as she saw the meat cooking.

now don't get misunderstood she still didn't like it, she just didn't voice it out loud.

I'm sure she would have if she hadn't seen me providing the meat.

Where did I get the meat?

Amber asked what it is. but got quiet again after I answered with carnivore food.Catching the hint that she probably didn't want to know.

And Sundrop didn't care cuz food is food.

I told neither of them where I got it…

and I'm not going to write it down in the small chance that one of them knows how to read this specific language.

As well as figure out how to turn on my phone and operate it's touch screen. and decides to invade my privacy

So Amber, do you know why the train was shipping cannons. I questioned

What's a cannon. Amber lied.

I caught immediately even with my meager lie detecting skills. I mean she might have gotten away with it if her eyes weren't bigger than my fists.

Amber.I warned using the same tone of voice my mom used on me when she knew I was lying.

And it worked despite my expectations

I thought she would just look at me with a curious look on my face and asked me why I was talking like that.

Instead Sundrop was the one who tilted her head in confusion but chose to remain quiet and watch the scene unfold.

Amber on the other… (hoof? Hand? I'm going with hand for now. There are more people here with opposable thumbs than not) lowered her head that she knew she'd been caught, and started her speech.

My father sells weapons on the black market and he took a job from some town north of Mount vehoovius and this is the first time he let me leave this city and go on the adventure that I always wanted...

Or at least that's all I could pull out of whatever song Amber started to sing

Diary entry number 42

One catchy pony story song later.

What just happened. Sundrop asked

Yeah. I know, it was my first time witnessing it in person as well. I answered

Yeah but what was that. Sundrop replied.

All ponies of a Equestria have this weird natural magical talent of being decent singers that can improvise anything into a song.

Including their life story.

And in these rare instances where they sing they release large quantities of their personal magical reservoir causing a surge of wild magic.

And doing this happens just about anything can happen so long is it at least loosely achieving what the singer wants to be accomplished.

Which includes but is not limited to complete control over the perception of time. complete control over the mental state of everyone within listening distance.

And complete control over the color spectrum.

Back where I come from we call this a montage.

… I'm so confused. Sundrop replied.

… Where did the music come from

I took a moment to examine the situation before continuing.

Like I just said. A burst of wild magic…

It's best not to think about it too much.

Multiple people have gone insane trying to figure it out.

And not very many people know if it's existence in the first place.

Let alone what it's supposed to be called.

There's only two people that existed on the face of this planet that I know of that had any sort of assemblance of control over wild magic.

One has become a mad God of chaos.

And the other is quite possibly dead.

...ok? Sundrop acknowledged.

By the way the pony just fainted.

I reached over and checked Amber's pulse.

Confirming that she was still alive I said.

It's okay she's just sleeping.

I'm fairly certain that's the second time she's done a montage today.

Remember that parade I mentioned earlier.

Yeah what about it. sundrop said curiously

I'm saying that is only an example of what a fully powered montage can do

You're joking right? sundrop said in disbelief

To which I replied.

I don't joke while I'm doing knowledge.

And I do honestly believe that earlier today after Amber's father agreed to let her do this job. Amber released a montage letting all those around her feel her Joy.

And when there's joy with large amounts of people there is celebration.

And when there's a celebration in the streets one of two things usually happens.

One. A parade

Or two. A flash mob

Seeing as little Amber fire had a destination. The train station.

There was really only one option

But well I'm still on the subject of wild magic it's quite possible that Amber caused the train wreck

The unpredictability of wild magic likely brought life to the fire within the train engine.

Creating that red hot oozing semi sentient substance that we saw

So you're saying. in its own way magic is a living creature.

And just like any wild animal it doesn't like being enslaved. Sundrop concluded

Exactly. I exclaimed. That is exactly what I'm saying.

So... That whole big and small at the same time feeling I was getting in my gut was just the magic, fighting back? Sundrop asked

I took a moment to ponder sundrop's words before answering.

That big and small at the same time feeling that you're getting is called spatial distortion.

I have encountered it many times.

And from my experiences it has been caused by several things

This time in particular. yes it may have been the magic messing with us.

Kind of feels like I'm going to throw up. Sundrop said holding her hands over her stomach

Do dragons even have a gag reflex I asked

To which Sundrop replied by turning away and vomiting

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Diary entry number 43

The next morning.

Amber was the first one to wake up shortly followed by me.

I've always had a hard time sleeping in new places. And today was no different.

In hindsight I probably should have slept a little bit further away from Amber, seriously if her rear was pointing towards me I would probably be laying on the ground Dead with a pair of horseshoes embedded in my chest.

In short she woke up, stood up, I heard her and bolted upright.

which startled her quite a bit Causing her back legs to shoot out with lethal Force.

I quickly rolled to the side before I even figured out if she was trying to trample me or not.

Amber calmed down fairly quickly telling me not to scare her like that again.

I ignored her because I immediately noticed the weight of my sidearm missing.

It had fallen to the ground due to me not refastening the strap back into place last night because of paranoia.

Amber saw me pick up my pistol and did the obvious and asked.

What is that?

I thought for a moment before answering.

Cuz I didn't want to tell anyone exactly what it was.

But I had to tell her something.

Because if I didn't tell her and just said something along the lines of, I don't want to talk about it.

she would be unable to ignore her protagonist instincts and find out one way or another and likely hurt somebody in the process.

and I couldn't exactly lie either because at some point down the road they'll find out I lied and then trust will be broken and then I'd have to go through the whole annoying process of regaining trust

so I just decided to confuse her with techno talk.

A 9 mm semi-automatic sidearm.

She stopped tilting her head a little bit with confusion.

And then I saw her face become focused as she started walking more closely at it

I quickly put it back on its holster and covered it up with my shirt as well as turned that side of my hip away from her.

We should get moving. If we hurry we might get to the next town before nightfall. I said trying to change the subject.

And then we can get you off back to your father where it's nice and safe.

Amber attempted to say something

SUNDROP Wake up!

It's time to go.

I hollered interrupting whatever Amber was going to say.

knowing full well that it would take the luck of the gods for her to forget about it.

Diary entry number 44

I walk over to sundrop as she's waking up

And examine her back. Learning a question I had for myself for a long time.

The base of the wings are indeed closer to the hips than they are the shoulders, just below the middle of her back

Confused, Sundrop asks me.

What's going on? What are you doing?

I reply with.

I'm examining your back and wings for injuries.

As I stretch out one of her wings and examine the membranes looking for holes and cuts

Continuing with the confused tone of voice Sundrop says.

Why

Two reasons I respond

Dragons wings are a little bit more susceptible to Sharp injuries than Pegasus wings.

and I'm also trying to figure out why you're so hesitant to fly last night

Well that's becau...

And I sincerely doubt that you have bad night vision with those massive eyes

I continue, coming across a decent bruise spot in one of the wing joints (the first elbow I don't know what it's called) hidden by the lack of scales. (No not really)

My eyes are a fourth the size yours are and I could see fine…

But...

And that's with my sunglasses on.

I finish ending the conversation letting go of her wing.

I turn back to Amber looking at me with a very frustrated look on her face and say.

We have a long walk ahead of us. If you have something to talk about you can do it while we're moving.

And that's exactly what she did for the next. several. hours.

Basically what she said was. She hated her father

Her cutie mark was symbolic of burning down tradition.

And she's glad I killed one of her father's associates.

I would give you more details but I can't remember even half of it because I was so focused on traveling the farthest distance I've ever traversed on foot.

and toward the end there I was thinking about just laying on top of her back.

Seeing if she would carry me and or shut up.

And that's exactly what I did. Cuz Sundrop looked like she was about to strangle somebody.

Ambers reaction was hilarious

I hit the ground laughing

And then when I looked up and saw Sundrop's face on the tearin up on the verge of hysterical laughter I couldn't hold myself back.

I let out a burst of mischievous evil Laughter.

And the best and or worst part

Was when I was just about to calm down and refocus.

I saw Amber leaning back and looking at me with the face of confused fear I bet she was thinking along the lines of "they're insane"

And then came the wheezing

I was laughing so hard I could feel the heat in my face

Diary entry number 45

After recovering I laid down on a slight rise of the tracks. And finally opened my eyes to the scenery before me.

Sundrop, come here. I said, ushering her to sit down with me.

She did so.

I pointed out towards the field and then looked to see how beautiful it is.

What are you talking about? she asked

I wrap my left arm around her and I'll stretch my right arm again. look at it look at those rolling Green hills. Look at the deep blue sky. And look at the clouds, the formless White clouds. I showed her gesturing with my hand all the while.

Why? She she questioned

Because. I said. Because it is important to enjoy the scenery, it is important to stop and look at life every once in awhile.

Because if you don't your life will be over before you even realize it began.

So stop. Smell the air. Feel the wind.

And see with your eyes.

Then Sundrop and I just sat there for a moment enjoying the scenery

Until I heard someone quietly crying slightly behind into my right

I turned around and I saw Amber there with tears running down her cheeks and the rays of the sun shining from behind her head. I don't remember why she was crying, that is if she even told us.

I just remember holding out my arm inviting her to sit down and she took it burying her face on my chest.

Diary entry number 46

It took us a day or two to finally reach the next town. The name of the town was written in a language that I couldn't read. but knowing how the names of this world go it probably has something to do with all the cheese being sold here.

It was a Rural Style town with mostly Barnes. And unlike the last couple of towns this one didn't have that much of a variety of species. I think the only locals are cows and minotaurs. We tried to stay at the inn but it was packed with people waiting on the train that was supposed to be here 2 days ago. That and I didn't have any money. I asked around to see if anyone knew a cartographer. but the closest one was in Some place called royal Paradise, the next closest one was in Stalingrad just west of that. But all of them said if I was Desperate I should find the traveling map salesman and get one of the overpriced Maps off of him. And when I tried to get more details they said look for the balloon with a goat on it.

At the end of the day we set up camp outside of town.

And I decided to try to learn more about Equestrias current status from Amber.

Hey Amber. Do you know anything about Equestria?

Amber looked up at me and replied. not really. all I really know about Equestria. is that the war that happened there 20 years ago was the biggest war in all of history.

Does anyone know how the war started? I asked.

a lot of people have their own opinions but no one has an exact answer. Amber replied

Then Sundrop said, my mom told me that It had something to do with the Elements of Harmony being killed after one of the numerous Wars.

The Elements of Harmony are dead? I stared in shock.

That's what everyone says. Amber answered.

I turn back to Amber with a question on my lips. What about the twin Pony sisters? Are they still alive?

The pair of them burst into laughter. while I waited patiently for them to recover. After they did Still chuckling, Sundrop replied.

No one calls them the twin Pony sisters anymore Comet. Amber interrupted saying. yeah their names are princess Celestia and princess Luna The Immortal rulers of Equestria. Cutting back in Sundrop finished.

which means they can't die.

I can't even imagine how many people have tried and failed. Amber said.

Diary entry number 47

So apparently Equestria's magic is keeping my phone charged

I turned my phone off a couple days ago to see if I couldn't preserve the battery life.

Like I do every day. but I decided to leave it turned off.

Cuz honestly writing all this stuff down drains the battery tremendously.

and I was surprised it lasted this long. I thought It would have died off days ago.

but when I turned it back on it was at 100% battery life so there's that.

I'm going to ignore this for now until I can figure it out. (which is likely not going to happen)

Sundrop's wing joint has swollen up quite a bit And even hurts for her just to move it around now.

So we've been staying near town just in case we needed anything from it while she rested and healed.

yes I'm aware she's still quite capable of walking. but she's also a better Hunter than I am and has quite the advantage when it comes to flying. and without the advantage of protein my strength will fade away quite quickly. Especially when traveling

That aside Nothing of Interest happened.

Just regular trips into town for whatever news I can get my hands on as well as seeing if I can't acquire food.

Couple of the people around here might be missing a chicken or two. but it will likely be blamed on foxes.

And I made chicken jerky. using a campfire, a stolen tarp and the salt from the Train.

And just in case you forget how to make jerky. Make a campfire, prop up some sticks over top of it, hang some strips of salted meat on it, lay the tarp over top of it with a hole on the point, And just let it sit there until it becomes dry. If you can get some cheese cloth you can do it using only sunlight.

build a rack, hang the strips of meat on it, lay some cheese cloth on so the Flies don't get to it

(Note) has to be cooked slowly. do it too quickly and it will just burn

(Note 2) Cheesecloth looks a lot like gauze

Diary entry number 48

It's been a week now and the amount of people waiting on the train has only increased and people have started camping in the field after they noticed me. And aside from the increasingly difficult tasks I have to complain order just to get some meat without being caught and executed for being a carnivore and a thief, I've heard a lot about what happened to Equestria. of course everyone has their own opinions and it takes a bit of thinking to figure out the general truth of what happened but everyone agrees that a war started and Equestria lost. As for the victors? Nobody can decide, some say they killed each other, the others say they banded together and created some sort of alliance, and a small few even say they disappeared off the face of the world.

And all of them are not very worried about it because we're on the other side of the world.

So from what I can tell, my arrival takes place after the season finale if the villains won. That means there's no way I can predict what's going to happen next.

What ya thinking about? Amber asked me has the three of us sat around the campfire that night.

I replied. I'm thinking we should get moving soon. There's no way we can know when they'll send a replacement train, and there's no way they're going to fix the old one saying as there's nothing left of the engine. And if we keep hanging out here someone's going to take notice that Sundrop here is a dragon and an oversized iguana

So where are we going to go now? Amber asked.

Well you can stay here if you want to. I only promised to get you to civilization. I answered

Like Tartarus I’m staying here in this Backwater town. said irritably

Amber... the both of us are eating meat.. and that by itself is a crime. A week and a half ago I killed a creature in Cold Blood in front of the entire town. And pretty soon here the townsfolk are going to realize they're chickens are going missing because of me, and now I'm pretty sure we're going to be convicted just for being survivors of that train wreck.

It'd be best if you stayed behind. I explained pinching my nose and rubbing my eyes.

But…

And I have little to no doubt your father has already sent people out looking for you. I interrupted.

That is if he actually is a powerful man you claim he is. So you staying with us will only stack on top of our existing crimes.

I mean I can't force you to stay, but I can definitely try to convince you to.

...I'm coming with you anyway. Amber said with determination in her voice.

...ok. I said accepting defeat.

you're letting her come with us? Sundrop exclaimed.

With how determined she is, even if we tie her to a table she'll escape and follow our Trail. I explained.

And if that happens we'll probably find her in the woods somewhere being surrounded by wild beasts and will have to save her again.

And I probably should have realized it sooner but her father is a mafia Lord so she probably has no problem with us being criminals.

As for where we're going I'm going to have to ask around to find out what the surrounding area looks like. I’m not about to blindly follow these tracks; they could go through a swamp made of fire for all I know.

Diary entry number 49

No, the track did not go through a fire swamp… but I was close enough, the next 20 miles of track went through desert Terrain with little to no water and lots of sand. even after that, the next hundred miles of track don't have any civilization

The people I asked suggested if I wasn't willing to wait on the train to head West by Southwest to a place called Rosedale and take a ferry up the coast. Which of course will take money that I don't have.

But taking a boat does sound more pleasant than trudging through a hot desert.

Looks like I'm going to have to become a pirate

Diary entry number 50

I spent one more day locating and stealing a compass from one of The Travelers staying in the tavern During the night. As the girls got Traveling supplies from the nearby wilderness before we left in the morning. We got to Rosedale before nightfall... It was On an island
