Chapter 6: Finally Free

Chapter 6: Finally Free

At first it was just a thought, but eventually, it invaded my dreams.

A desire to go anywhere I want and be anyone except me.

Yet due to sickness and health, I know this can never be.

But still, I hope one day I can finally be free.

Chapter 6

Finally Free

I involuntarily jumped at the thunderous roar that echoes throughout the castle. Rain pelted the throne room window, obscuring the view outside.

“It was a dream?” I sink into my chair, my heart still pounding from the nightmare I awoke from.

I think I was locked in a cage. And if that wasn’t interesting enough, my body was paralyzed, so all I could do was cry demand someone free me, but no one came.

“That was your dream, wasn’t it, Anna?”

It had to be, ever since I woke up in this body, her memories have been steadily flowing into me. And I have to say, I'm surprised. I never thought I see someone with “family” issues worse than me. I know I’m not a saint, but still, I can safely say that the King of this doomed kingdom is the definition of an asshole.

Because his daughter was too weak to do anything, he tried to marry her off to neighboring kingdoms and hopes of gaining allies. But because of her illness, she was turned down. Enrage at his daughter uselessness, the king locked her away and never visited her again, leaving her care to the maids.

I’m glad I killed him. That man was nothing more than a manipulator that treated everyone as a tool. Of course, I already knew that. While he used my power to conquer and expand his empire, I used his army to cause as much grief and misery as I could to the other Entities.

Well, that was the original plan, I kind of got sidetrack when I met Anna. Somewhere down the line my dastardly evil plan of torturing my “siblings” changes to how can I save the princess. Which resulted in me destroying the kingdom and somehow becoming said princess. I think my title should be changed from “God of Corruption” to “God of failure,” because I doubt anyone can fuck up as bad as me.

But then again, perhaps I'm a little too hard on myself. After all, this kingdom would’ve been destroyed even if I stuck with my original plan. Once the other Entities found out I was working with the King, they would have killed everyone anyway. This place was doom the moment I came here.

That’s why I decided to destroy this place and hopes of saving at least Anna life. I used the rubbles to hide her, and then turn this place into my prison to satisfy my “siblings.” And I guess I kind of succeeded if you count fusing together and becoming one being as saving.

“Haha.” A hollow laugh escapes from my mouth and echoes throughout the room. “Now what do I do?”

I’m not sure how Athena will act, but I do know the others won’t hesitate to finish me off if they see me in this weak state.

“I have no choice, but to leave, don’t I?” My heart started beating nervously at the thought of venturing outside.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

I’ve been trapped in this place for hundreds of years, so I have no idea what’s happening outside, plus I don’t I have any allies that’ll come to my aid. And to top it all off, this body is incredibly weak and frail. I’m probably going to hurt myself if I tried to punch someone. But despite all the danger I can’t help but feel excited at the thought of leaving!

Carefully, I stand up on my feet, making sure my legs don’t give out on me again. I've gotten used to moving around in this body, although because Anna has been bedridden for most of her life, it still takes an incredible amount of effort to stay on my feet.

Thunder continue to rumble in the distances as I made my way slowly down a dark hallway. Rain crept through a crack in the windows damping the floors, which were litter with overturned furniture and broken doors.

It’s a good thing I hid Anna’s body well. It looks like they were trying to find a hidden treasure the way they tore this place up.

After our fight, they must’ve taken a break before they decided to ransack the castle. And given the fact I fell asleep again the moment I woke up in this body. Two days must’ve passed since our fight or at least a day in a half.

Two days, that should’ve been plenty of time for them to make it back to civilization and brag about their victory. I wonder how long it’ll take for Athena and the other Entities to get the message?

As weird as this sounds, I’m kind of glad my body was completely absorbed by Anna. Since my body isn’t around anymore Athena and the others will hopefully think that I’m reforming myself. Which should buy me some time to get as far away from this place as possible. But where to exactly? That question lingered in the back of my head as I made my way through the castle. The closer I got to the entrance, the more I desperately looked for an answer.

“Perhaps I’ll go visit a hot spring since I’m a girl now, I can easily sneak into the women side.” I giggle softly to myself as I imagine a bunch of big busty girls surrounding me and taking turns washing me with their well-endowed chest that was bestowed upon them.

“Alright screw taking over the world, I’m going to start spring hopping from now on!” Even though I’m no longer a guy, that doesn’t mean I can’t live the dream all men fantasize about, a harem of big busted ladies!

With new-found resolve, I continue towards an iron door that leads outside. The door loudly creaks as it slowly opens.

My mind went blank the moment the door fully opened. For some reason, the world looked some much bigger and amazing than before. Perhaps it’s because I’m looking at things through Anna’s eyes. Her life she could only see the world through a small window that lay beside her bed. But now, there’s no wall obstructing our view. There are a few buildings, but through the cracks, you can see the world continues to expand infinitely.

“Is this really real?” Still, in complete awe, I take a step out of the castle in into the storm. Cold droplets of rain splash on my body assuring me that this isn’t a dream. I look up at the sky and let the rain splash on my face. I take a deep breath like I’m trying to inhale world.

“I’m finally free!” I roar at the heavens. Thunder roar back at me like the world itself was congratulating me.

Overwhelm with joy; I jumped into the nearest puddle. I happily splash my feet around until my legs grew tired.

“Hahaha!” I collapse into the puddle giggling to myself. I know none of these emotions are mine, but still, I’m happy that I can feel them. Ever since I woke up in this body, I’ve been deeply frustrated with myself.

I don’t want to sound pessimistic, but up to this point, my whole life has been nothing but failure. I failed at conquering the world, I failed to defeat a group of thugs that invaded my home, and I failed to save one girl’s life.

But, this uncharacteristic happiness I’m feeling prove I at least did one thing right. Even though it didn’t happen the way I wanted, I still manage to free her from the castle. And from the looks of it, that was enough to make her happy.

“!!!” I quickly turn my head towards the direction the scream came from, My heart rapidly beat against my chest as I peer into the darkness, trying to figure out what creature could make such an awful noise.

Lightning flashes across the sky, briefly illuminating my world and giving me a quick glimpse at the creatures.

“Goblins,” I whisper to myself. The small green creatures cautiously approach me with a perverted grin on their face. Shit, I was so busy celebrating my escape that I didn’t notice them.

“Relax, they won’t hurt you, at least not while I’m here.” A human confidently walks pasts the goblins. At least I thought it was a human. He talked and walked perfectly upright like a normal human, but his skin was just as green as the goblins.

“Who are you?” A wide grin form on the creature’s face like he was hoping for me to ask that question.

“I’m the future king of this castle, but you darling, you can just call me Cain.”
