Synopsis
A child of Stormhenge, child of the giants, Rúna has grown up sheltered among her own people, looking forward to the day she sets out into the wide world with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Every giant must find their place in legend, must win their gate into Paradise through feats of glory. Even trained for battle, schooled as a bard and storyteller, and born an able shape-shifter, she is anything but prepared for the world of the little-folk.
Rigid and cut off from much of Creation, the world beyond Stormhenge is full of mysteries and dangers nothing has prepared her for. Her path takes her through the wild north, the lands of Ash Kordh, the home of myths and monsters, down into the kingdoms of men, where love and evil unfold as they will. Bound by the weaves and wefts of her fate, her honor will link her inexorably to those most in need of her protection and love even as she struggles to right a great wrong and cleanse a kingdom of dark influence.
Revenge is a dangerous foe. After the destruction of the town of Dalle by the forces of an evil general, the thorn knight responsible for the protection of the people butchered there has risen from the dead, transfigured not as a holy warrior, but an abomination: a revenant. Bound to life by the insatiable hunger for the destruction of Ghyslain "Shrike" Roche, she cannot die until her broken oath is atoned for by the shedding of his blood. Even her past is lost to her as she begins her quest, the only name she has for herself the one emotion she can no longer feel: Sorrow. The path to retribution, however, is fraught with peril and complications. Every step, darkness calls to darkness.
When their interweaving paths cross, Rúna and Sorrow will both find that the cost, the sacrifice, might be more than they can pay.
