One of the six states which make up the Hexarchy, the Crown of Ombrun is engulfed in a violent civil war which threatens to destabilize the entire realm. Far to the north, dominating the snowy passes of the Mininghold, the town of Forsot has been occupied by the Issir, a long-oppressed people now yearning for their independence. But with the town's citizens on the brink of rebellion, dwindling supplies, and winter upon them, the occupying garrison may well be forced to retreat. Surrounded on all sides by enemies, will the Issir emerge victorious from their struggle, or will they be forced into submission once again?
