Chapter Fifty Four
OSIRIS AGE 16
R E C R U I T : FIRST BLOOD
“Welcome Princess Luella, come in. Maybe I take your coat?”
Kou was warned by the little Prince that someone would come for him. He was also warned, over and over, by everyone during the war, to leave the boy be before everyone came home. But he was his best customer yet. Like hell he was going to let him forget he exists and go off and find another cook.
That kit kept his pockets full, and when he burns this place to the ground, he will happily be somewhere else looking for love.
The Princess smiled sweetly at him.
“Yes, thank you Chef.”
She wanted to ‘visit’ the beast while her brother was in class. She could only bring in two of her guards, but they should be enough, if the beast refused.
After putting her coat on a rack Kou went back to stirring his pot. The little kammapa was about to come to lunch and this will be his first day. He wanted to make him his favorite. Trout, potatoes, and asparagus.
“So what brings you to the academy, Princess Luella?”
“Luella, I let everyone close to me call me my name in private.”
Kou gave her his best customer service smile yet.
Luella felt herself start to loosen up. Beasts were so honest. His smile focused only on her with sharp, yellow eyes like the wolves she keeps outside. She wonders if he’ll play a house cat.
“It’s almost lunch time if you and your men would all like to join everyone, Prince Osiris should be arriving soon.”
Her face turned nasty. She fixed it before he could get a read on what type of nasty it was.
“Actually, that’s why I’m here.”
She pulled out a fan and started to slowly run a gloved finger over the kitchen accessories.
“I’m looking for a personal cook these days.” She paused at some vials. They had spices of every kind lined up in a portable spice rack. “I need someone with a refined taste.”
Kou kept his smile on as he looked at her guards. They were blocking the door. Kou’s tail flicked.
“I apologize, Princess, but my loyalty lies with the Prince.”
Luella faltered and spilled some oregano. The little dry leaves flew around, quite easily, on top of the counter.
“Excuse me?”
No one has told her no since she was a child.
“I thought being honest would help clear up any misunderstandings that could occur in the future, due to this conversation.”
“Do you know who you are speaking to?”
He does. Kou stirred the boiling potatoes. He hopes his alpha won’t be too mad if blood gets in the meal today. He surprisingly hates raw meat.
“I can only apologize.” The men looked to have started to corner him. They were at the only entrance to the back. “A lot of people come to me and it’s something I say without thinking.”
Luella forced herself to calm down.
He was a beast. She’s had to train every pet she gets, she needs to remember he hasn’t been broken in, yet.
“How much is he paying you?”
Kou’s tail flicked again.
“Enough.”
“I said, how much is he paying you?”
“…”
Kou let the spoon swirl wildly in the little whirlpool he made.
“He doesn’t.”
Kou wasn’t exactly lying. His little girl pays him more gold than he can fit in his house, and all for his little detox mixes. He can pick the ingredients off the road.
Luella fanned her fan and smiled behind the paper.
“I can pay you whatever you’d like.” She ran a finger through the spilled spice. “You can even live in the royal castle, I’m sure I can talk my father into letting you stay.”
Her voice was like honey.
“I’m sure I can treat you better than my brother.” Her voice had an edge to it. “He never cares for his servants like I do.”

Kou’s tail was a twitching mess, but his face had yet to change.
“Thank you for the offer Princess-”
“I’m sure you’ll change your mind after seeing it yourself.” She snapped. “Let’s take a walk, it’ll be quick.”
Kou sighed.
“Apologies Princess, but.” Kou’s nails came out. “I’ve been given permission to protect myself by any means necessary. As long as I don’t kill any royals I am free to do as I please.”
Headmaster Imhotep didn’t like having all the royals in one place.
“How’s my son doing?”
He sipped some tea before answering.
“He’s gone to three of his classes so far.”
It was barely going to be lunch. King Mikael Von Lux sat in his office looking more warn than last night. The man has been on him about his son since he mentioned wanting to come to school.
“Good.”
The King’s other children, Luella, Mercedes, and Axel had tagged along and were out roaming the ground. He had a bad feeling about this.
“I’ll be back.” Sunnie sighed. Her boys were nowhere in sight. “They’re probably lost again.”
Osiris shooed her away as he left her to take a seat against the giant glass windows in the cafeteria.
“So what do you think?”
Vep watched the woman twirl her blonde hair at him. She pulled him away from Fibble when the church came and took him away.
“I-I don’t think it’s a good idea, Princess.”
She had his back against a wall. They were in an empty classroom. She touched his stomach with gloved hands.
“If it’s money, I can pay you.” She was getting desperate.
Vep looked behind her at the guards that all had black hair and colored eyes. He looked down at the Princess.
“I have to d-decline.”
Vep really didn’t want to be the first one to test Osiris’s offer of fuck around and find out. He always found out. Her hand slid under his jacket. She was rumpling the shirt Fibble tried too hard to tuck. He grabbed her wrist, she gasped.
“I said no.”
Fibble wondered why his god’s eye looked pinched as the church sat with him in a teacher’s meeting room.
“We-”
Weight.
They all looked towards where it dropped.
“Seems the King is mad.” The priest fixed his cuffs. “Let’s not worry about what we cannot fix.”
Fibble looked at the priests warily.
“Why are we here again?”
“In the Lux Kingdom, it is a tradition for a prophet to go through a year of isolated training to become one with their god-”
“No thanks.”
The priests smiled at him.
“It’s not up for debate, my boy.” The other two priests stood. “We already got permission from the Queen.”
Osiris was reliving his time jumping back and forth from the border and mocking the eldritch beast in his mind when Kou came crashing out of the kitchen with a tight face and a bleeding wrist.
He crashed and scattered students and faculty across the cafeteria. Behind him, two mutts that were wolfed out attacked him. Osiris sipped on his water as his sister came storming out with a tomato red face. As the fight continued Osiris watched and waited.
People began screaming, running, and crying. It was chaos. Osiris was halfway done with his drink.
Kou spotted his alpha and smiled.
He could fight seriously now. With the safety in knowing his alpha is watching and near, he killed the two beasts within a second. Their heads rolled and bounced. Luella screamed in frustration before launching a spell at him.
Osiris sat up in his seat and leaned in to get a better look at his sister. She was so mad, he started to laugh.
Luella saw red when she heard that familiar cackle. She went for the beast’s heart.
Osiris held his breath, waiting. Kou was going for her shoulder. Osiris could see it now. ‘LUELLA, FIRST PRINCESS, LOSES AN ARM TO A FERAL BEAST!’ His stomach fluttered at the thought.
Weight.
Kou was thrown away and sent flying into some tables in front of Osiris. The boy’s face curled. It was the king. Osiris was in front of Kou as the King shoved his arm straight through his shoulder.
So this is why he’s still king.
Even with his limited reserves as a sixth ring, he still knows what to do with his mana. He was the first king to be a sixth circle or something. Osiris looked down at the blood.
But these wounds meant nothing to him anymore.
“Having fun?”
His father’s reaction was priceless. He looked like his whole world was ending. His eyes sprung with tears.
Osiris pulled the man’s hand from his chest and caught a vial Kou threw at him. He slammed it into his shoulder as he turned and looked at Kou.
Mikael stumbled back in horror. He almost killed his son. His beautiful baby boy.
“What happened.”
Luella was holding her shaking arm and panting behind her shaken father.
“That Princess wouldn’t take no for an answer.”
“H-he’s lying!” Luella felt fear. “He tried to come onto me and my men were just protecting me.”
Osiris nodded to Kou.
“I thought she liked dogs?”
Kou looked at the dead beasts.
“I guess not.”
“Father.”
Luella tugged on his cape, but he was still looking at Osiris’s shoulder.
“And the food?”
Kou took his alpha’s arm and stood. The boy picked him up like he weighed nothing. Kou laughed.
“She destroyed the kitchen.”
WEIGHT.
The King felt his neck tighten as his son’s aura flattened everyone in the school. A silence only those in power carry filled the grounds. A few seconds later three panting bodies came running in.
“Osiris, your fucking sibling are psychopaths!”
Blood.
All three had blood on them.
“What happened.”
Luella was terrified.
She can feel it in her legs. She gripped her Father’s jacket tighter.
“The Crown Prince-”
“The Princess-”
“The Church-”
“-tried to kidnap me!”
Osiris killed every guard that came with his family with a single stomp. He blew a glass cup under his foot and shards of broken glass shot like bullets through the walls and through the guards’ heads all across the school grounds.
“Let’s eat off campus today, Kou, show us a restaurant you’re competing against. We can review them together.”
Osiris kept his ego up until they walked off campus.
“Father!” Luella shook him. “You’re just going to let them leave like that?!”
A few minutes later the rest of his children showed up and the Headmaster looked pissed.
“Dad they-”
“Did you see-”
“Enough.”
He should have known better than to bring these people along. He sighed and looked around. He was going to be banned from coming unless there’s an emergency or festival, again. He made this mistake with Zayd… Mikael looked at the door.
He just wanted him to have a good first day.
