Jason, an orphan, bonds with a magical creature and becomes a wizard.  Becoming imbued with magic and not being able to control it, Jason set the orphanage on fire.  Without a home, the orphaned teen is invited to attend Davis Academy of Magic, a school that has taught magic for the past five hundred years.  Its headmaster, Victor Davis, claims he started the school when he was thirty, except that would make him over five hundred years old. In his classes, Jason learns all sorts of new skills and even has to travel into a mysterious tower for some practical training.  The best part of this all is that in Jason's first lesson, he learns how to summon the magical creature he's bonded with.  Now he isn't alone.
