Synopsis
Fern grapples with nightmares and the weight of expectations in a world divided by abilities as Selection Day approaches. Tormented by dreams of blood and death, she believes she’s responsible for the tragedies surrounding her. With only six days until the fateful day, Fern fears being separated from her twin brother, Flynn, who may be placed in the Riders' region due to their father's notorious reputation. Her unique purple eyes signal potential as a sorcerer—a fate she dreads, especially since their mother chose a life of hardship over power.
As Flynn recovers from an attack by bullies and their mother struggles to care for them, Fern feels an ever-growing anxiety. Navigating the complexities of her relationship with Flynn and the blossoming romance between him and Eloise, she is torn between wanting to protect her brother and confronting her own fears. Their shared past is marked by trauma, and as they prepare for a future that threatens to tear them apart, Fern must find the strength to confront her demons. Together, they might just have a chance against the odds, but the looming threat of Selection Day casts a dark shadow over their lives.
