This Continent is a world of cultivation, where people (Humans) spend their entire lives seeking to comprehend the essence of this art.  One day, A not so ordinary sword cultivator was ambushed and then crippled by a group of mysterious hunters who used his loved ones. Humans can walk on 3 major paths : First, Path of a Martial artist, they are considered stronger than the other two in a direct confrontation but nothing is ever absolute. Second, The Path of Pharmacist or Alchemist, they create pills and practice medicine and have their own unique means of combat including poison.  And Finally, The Path of a Formation or an Array master, they study and comprehend runes and combine the runic patterns to form Formations and arrays which can exert many different effects. This is also the rarest path because of it's difficulty. There is a saying in the world of cultivators, ' Never enter the lair of a Formation Master.
