Synopsis
Trisha never wanted this life after death. Being a barista in some forgettable coffee shop on the fringes of Motor City may have been its own brand of banality and misery, but at least it was familiar - it was normal - and didn’t involve letting shady types take her home for some “fun” all so she could drink their blood; leaving a trail of bodies sucked dry in her wake as she fails to control her voracious new urges.
As if the risk of getting caught wasn’t bad enough, another caveat of her less-than-heavenly afterlife soon rears its head: the Black Magistrate - a centuries old judge of the city’s undead who has decreed that she must pass their curse onto another in recompense for killing the one who birthed her into a creature of the night or she will share in his fate.
Unable to escape his despotic grip, and with her own blood now “in heat” after nearly three months of reckless binge-feeding, Trisha is left with no other choice but to accept the Magistrate’s ultimatum; being summoned to one of their covens - the Crimson Kissed nightclub in Downtown Detroit - to present her prospective offspring.
Taking inspiration from HBO’s True Blood and even the infamous Twilight novels by Stephenie Meyer, Crimson Kissed aims to show the shadowy, predatory, and ultimately merciless existence of modern vampires from the perspective of someone at the bottom of the bloodsucking pecking order being made to answer for her crimes by consigning another unfortunate soul to the same eternity of unending hunger as her own.
