Synopsis
Eddie Fujimoto died fighting for nobody's cause. It wasn't humanity's, as some liked to claim, for he had no grandiose illusions in a world driven to the brink of extermination by invaders from alien dimensions. It wasn't his or his country's, for he never had a place he could call home. He kept on drifting away, looking for a purpose, until he perished on a land that never accepted him as one of its own.
Yet, death wasn't a definitive end he hoped it would be.
Awaken in a world strikingly familiar yet utterly foreign to him, Eddie discovers that the world he now inhabits is not the world he remembered, with memories from what came to be known as the First Shattering but a distant echo of the long-forgotten past. Humanity's struggle for survival against untold horrors from dimensions other than his own has been going on for generations, and only a select few remember how or when the grueling struggle against the Schisma began.
Now on a run from a despotic government built upon countless lies that seeks to enslave him, Eddie finds allies that seeks to uncover the truth behind why the world ended up being the way it is, however suspect. With his new found allies on his side, he embarks on a quest to retrieve an archive containing records on the origins of meta humans, individuals endowed with powers that defy comprehension. However, as specters from his troubled past reemerge, he must answer one crucial question: will he ever be something more than an outsider?
A for-fun writing project by a first time writer inspired by Sir Nil's Tautology and many other modern superhero fiction with a focus on exploring the implications of super-powered humans for society and the making and impact of history as we know it. Expect a super hero adventure driven by mystery with a significant emphasis on the social functions of history in the public consciousness. This series has no fixed release schedule, meaning updates might come whenever I go on a writing spree.
