When the people who killed her father come looking for her, Fern is thrust into the universe. With only what she can carry on her back, Fern is sent to find the ship known as "The Emerald". Unfortunately, the ship is under new management. Fern is left to pick up the pieces of her life and put her trust in a reckless captain and his even more tumultuous crew. Her world will change forever as she uncovers the truth of her family's origins and races to save what is left. Along the way, she might just learn that perhaps all crossings are cosmic....
