An old school, epic length, slow burn, science-fantasy tale. On the eve of his 15th birthday, Corvan discovers a small stone hammer buried beneath his backyard fort. The hammer opens hidden doors and reveals family secrets. When his best friend Kate is taken prisoner, Corvan will leave his small town to rescue her, but first he must make an uneasy alliance with the guardian of the labyrinth. BACKGROUND INFO As a child of the 1960’s, I decided to write a classic, old school, science-fantasy.  As a web novel, I can develop my soft sci-fi, low fantasy in much more detail than traditional publishing would allow. The result is an oddball book which is both slow burn but also an action adventure. It was originally just a fun bit of retro sci-fi but lately it has morphed into something a bit more rational and issue oriented. Emulating vintage “portal” fiction such as “Stranger from the Depths” (1967) this subterranean adventure takes place in real space and time; a midwest mining town in 1952. Love interests reflect the historical time frame and the young age of the MC’s. There is a significant shift heading into book II. The Sensitive Content relates mainly to the second volume, The Medallion, in relation to the addictive properties of a substance found in the Cor.  I intentionally keep author notes to a minimum.
