Synopsis
At twenty-eight years old, Lucy Karnstein is — admittedly — something of a loser. A fabulously wealthy mother and preternatural gifts of the vampiric variety should logically make for an equally extraordinary life, but alas, she has no desire for anything out of the ordinary anymore. Ambition never did her any favours, and what’s there to complain about, anyway? She has a fancy flat all to herself, she's reasonably talented enough to find enriching work and activities, she doesn't look half-bad as a person — and it all comes at the low low cost of babysitting her mother’s new pet project.
Not that it isn’t a pain to dress up for a ridiculous party and pretend to be some hotshot vampire worthy of the family name, but at least it’s only once a week. The rest of her quiet, blissfully uneventful life is hers, and she’s not about to jinx it by hoping for something more.
