Wren, veteran mercenary of the Red Wolves, has been on vacation for two days and has never been so bored. In an attempt to find some measure of excitement (and after the machinations of a coworker she would quite like to make disappear) she finds herself the bodyguard of one Charlotte Farnsworth, the illegitimate daughter of Baron Farnsworth and his first love, at the Royal Academy. While Wren really does want to do a good job, if only to maintain her reputation as a halfway competent mercenary, she finds it very difficult to bring her full attention to the job because lady Iris Fontier, daughter of the Duke and fiancee to prince Roland the first, is highly distracting.  ------------- This is a Villaness story, because villainess is the peak genre for wlw shenangins if you don't have the creativity or energy to make something up yourself. I have neither, so here we are. Expect a lot of sarcasm, smirks, and stubbornness, as two women who's love language is insults and best guess at flirting is intense competition try to figure themselves out.  This is not my first time writing, but it is my first time writing with this tone, and my first time writing a romance or a comedy.
