Betty and Karl were part of an unsuccessful attempt at saving the world from a devastating apocalyptic event. Faced with certain death, they decide to spend the last few precious hours on earth they have on a legendary bender, wandering the city they both grew up in, indulging every single self-destructive pleasure it has to offer. But as the night progresses, they are constantly confronted by the past they are so desperate to forget. They're kept going only by the search for a fabled psycho-active spell, which transports ones consciousness into a parallel universe, in which every human being is a bird.
