A Father's Day

While performing my duties at the hospital, I observed a father clutching his daughter tightly, rushing to the receptionist to request a doctor. The concern in his eyes and the urgency in his voice could have melted the hardest stone, not to mention my own heart. Everyone present, myself included, did their utmost to assist his daughter, who was struggling to breathe. The wheezing sounds and discoloration on her face clearly communicated the gravity of the situation.

A nurse quickly facilitated their meeting with a doctor.

Moments before, I had been contemplating society's dismissive attitude towards fathers and their frequent ridicule. The media, the judicial system, and society at large seemed to assail them like a mob with clubs. They were allotted a single day for recognition and expected to be content with this token gesture. Yet, in that critical moment, I realized that these fathers were indifferent to Father's Day. To them, every day was Father's Day; they didn't seek appreciation but cherished the time spent with their loved ones.
