Even while besieged on all sides by misfortune, humanity is still laden with internal strife. Although there are threats abound, arguably the most dangerous of them is brought on by one's greed and hubris. Demonologists devised a way to tap into a plane of existence different from theirs in order to pilfer the relics and knowledge hidden behind the veil of reality. Instead, they brought upon a volatile fire that sought to consume civilisation from within. Now they seek to cover those gateways, lest a cinder escapes and sets the world ablaze. This is the first time I've tried doing something like this, or rather, my first writing project. I wanted to go with grimdark fantasy because it's the genre that I've always enjoyed the most, but unlike the stories that have inspired me, I want it to have uplifting and wholesome moments, along with the cold and dark. Hopefully you'll have fun reading it, and I would appreciate any feedback people could give so I may improve my writing skill and style. Cheers!
