Synopsis
Ky Kaito was born with an extraordinary gift. As a child, he was a math prodigy, seeing mathematics in every facet of life, including basketball. By the time Ky would step onto the court himself, he was a natural. Still, even with his skillset, Ky found himself on a losing high school team in the middle of nowhere, failing to get college recruiters to notice him.
After his last game as a high schooler, an agent offers Ky a deal. In exchange for testing and promoting his new sports drink, Dante's Inferno, Ky can participate in Chronic Crossover. In this reality TV show, modeled after Korean elimination shows, 1,250 of the best eighteen-year-old basketball prospects from around the globe will compete against one another via challenges and traditional five-on-five action. However, one's skills on the court aren't the only factor when deciding who gets to move forward as fan voting will also affect the rankings. To become one of the lucky five winners of the competition, one must learn to balance their on-court skills with their off-court talents. What's the grand prize for those willing to take on the Chronic Crossover challenge? Only a contract to the American Basketball Association, the league where only the biggest and most talented stars go head to head.
With his family's lives at stake, Ky enters the competition. However, Ky is dumbfounded as he discovers that Dante's Inferno isn't your average sports drink. It improves physical performance and stamina as most sports drinks claim to, but it also allows Ky to view the world around him via a different lens and level himself up as if he were in a sports Role Playing Game. Combining this strange leveling system with his wizardry in mathematics and physics, Ky becomes an unstoppable force, attempting to make a name for himself despite coming from Bumduck, Nowhere.
Still, even with the help of his system, Ky is faced with constant trials as he faces off against players with unique weapons of their own.
