Synopsis
Long after humanity's moved on from Earth, the new Empire decided one planet filled with unwanted members of society is a cheap price to pay for humankind's utopic future. And though Ravenna has been serving it's purpose well for generations as testing grounds for ridiculous laws and social experiments, time has come to dispose of the lab mice that survived. Mutilated and worn out by rigorous test, it's a blessing, really, that we let them go instead of dragging out their suffering without reason or purpose...What, the mice are actually people? See if anyone cares, hun. It's Ravenna we're talking about, it's dusty soils are yet to birth anything of notion.
Ravenna was always the Empire's sore spot. Soggy with innocent blood, always clad in the shadows of an artificial sky, this tech-packed planet wasn't supposed to make it. Neither were any of it's inhabitants. Not the lonely informant haunted by days gone, not his little amnesiac servant boy, not even the pack of to-be space police students. And, almost definitely, not the inventor who managed to defy constraints of space and time - and foresaw his horrible, sweet, chaotic, living and breathing home planet getting blown to smitherines.
