Synopsis

Additional warning for Body Horror and Slavery. "I'm sorry, today was never a good day to die." In a world fractured into regionalities by contact with alternate magical civilizations via portals to Earth, Shijimia returns to society after being forced to flee through a portal when her entire school was destroyed by a magical distortion. Only one small problem: three years have passed and now she is sixteen, but to her family and Japanese society only a single day passed. As to what happened in those three years, Ingintzel as she now calls herself, is silent, but people have guesses. Destroyed hands, scorch marks, and scars aren't easy to hide. Yet society never lets the past stay where it belongs. As bills start piling up, magical side-effects eat away at her health, and friends turn into bullies, life really makes doing evil tempting, Inet would much rather pretend everything's fine. Taking inspiration from Worm, Magical Girl Gunslinger, and various fictions by Thundamoo, Calypso features a world facing similar problems of invading monsters (through magical distortions) while Earth starts gaining its own magic. Sure, there are superheros and magical girls that seem to have access to a limited "System," born from the very best of society to fight monster incursions. However, the government is keen to utilize their weapons to empower soldiers, resulting in an entire class of "heros" in regular society basing magic not on character but scientific advancement, with criminals now becoming empowered "villains." However, the protagonist is not any of these, simply another member of the growing class of children caught in the fray, given powers she doesn't want nor the control over them to prevent herself becoming a menace to society. Profanity and Sexual Content labels are in case parts of story or writing classify, but I doubt they will. Releases will likely be block uploads of three or so chapters - of 4000 words each - on an irregular basis. AI artwork for cover I created using ArtBreeder, DeepAI, and Photoshop.
